Has anyone been issued a permit who may have had some youthful indiscretions yet, something over 13-15 years ago? No felonies, but a record of some sort none the less?

If it was actually "youthful" it isn't on record and you can ignore it. If it was when you were a "youthful" adult, then it may be relevant. I have the former, so it was unnecessary to mention it.

Had my appointment this morning and met Amber and the rest of the folks. The detectives interviewing were concerned that several people in the lobby did not have appointments and wanted to know if Calguns had some erroneous info about not needing an appointment. Needless to say they were a little concerned.

Best advice is be prepared. Questions were as outlined and process was very efficient. I came at exactly the right time and went past about 7 others who "didn't have appointments" Those 7 were still sitting there 20 minutes later when I had completed the process and was on my way.

I hope you told them that there is no such thing on here. I do enjoy that they know where the volume comes from though. The department has become a pleasure to work with.

I told them Calguns would have none of it and that if there were such disinformation, we would set it straight accordingly. They are really really doing a great job in helping us get the process moving. I saw a total of 5 Employees working on the CCW interview process this morning. I was really impressed. The Sheriffs Department Company picnic and Christmas party will be well funded this year thanks to our support!!

A 500% increase over a few months ago. Ain't it grand?

Is this true? I do spend quite a bit of time up there. I would say I'm there a few times a week, from the East Bay. Am I eligible? I've never heard of the 90 day thing either.

Sacramento would need to be your place of employment. It's in PC 12050, see http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/cacode/P.../2/1/3/s12050:

Quote:
(ii)If the licensee's place of employment or business was the basis for issuance of the license pursuant to subparagraph (A) of paragraph (1), the license is valid for any period of time not to exceed 90 days from the date of the license. The license shall be valid only in the county in which the license was originally issued.
I've read that such permits are seldom, if ever, issued. It would be easier to just move.

There are, in fact various posts here and at CALCCW indicating that the
Thursday application turn in time is a real crowd scene, and that one
should show up early. That, of course has changed with the new on-line
appointment system.
The application package should clearly indicate that on-line appointments
are the way to go.

I had my interview recently, I'm nervous about getting denied due to an arrest 17 years ago. I was fingerprinted and released. No charges, it was someone else. Should I worry?

For turning in your final papers do you need to turn in a written test result? The letter says taking a written test, do they require that you just take it or provide proof?

The certificate of course completion is your proof that you took a written test in your CCW class. When you go to turn in your final papers, they just want that proof that you took a CCW class, then they make sure all the papers are in order, ask you if anything's changed, and take your $80.00. It takes about 5 minutes.

Default Anyone know what the time frame is

between the time the committee meets and you are notified of the results ie yes you pass to the next step or no, don't pass go?

They told me at my first interview that the committee would be meeting this past week, just wondering when I might hear something.

Congrats to all those that have recovered their rights. Good luck to all those in the process. I feel better knowing you all are around.

I had my initial interview on Nov 17, the committee met in early Dec, and I received my approval letter on Dec 15. I did my livescan on Dec 18, received my DOJ clearance letter from Sac. Sheriff on about Jan 6. Immediately made an appointment for Jan 11 (lucked out that one was available that quick) to turn in final paperwork. I expect my CCW in the mail around Jan 25.

You should be able to estimate your times based on this. Good luck!

That gives a an idea of a time frame so I am not rushing home to check my mail everyday like when I was a kid waiting for my corn flakes decoder ring.

It was great the appts opened up. Went in today earlier than my appt time. They were not that busy so they took me upstairs. Signed and finger printed, handed over check and turned in the final paperwork and done. Out of there in less than 10 mins. Now wait for the mail.

I was probably 23 or 24. It's not that I'm unwilling to be upfront about it with the SD. I'm just trying to gauge my odds, and get an idea of what others may have experienced if they have something in their background.

Thanks

I have some minor stuff in my past (got busted holding beer in high school, yeah I'm a real hell-raiser) didn't cause me any trouble.

I turned my original application in on December 16th and was told that the review board would be meeting on Jan 12th. Has anyone received their letter from the Jan meeting yet?

I was a few days after you and I still have not heard anything and they have NOT cashed my $20 check yet.

I think I might call Amber today.

I don't think calling will speed up results. My approval letter back last October was received about a week after the date of the letter. I think you should receive your letter by next week.

Had my interviews this morning. I am very surprised with how pleasant it was. Relaxed, professional & encouraging.
Not to get too personal, but what is the general feeling towards being honest and admitting a one time use of a controlled substance as a teenager? I would like to think that would not be a issue.

A good little piece of advise regarding the online appointment system is to check it once or twice per day. When cancellations happen, they post openings on the calendar. If you just happen to catch it right, you'll see a green box on the calendar and you can snag it!! This may bump your appointment up from May to February or something like that. Good luck.

Yea I have a May 25th date. My son has angioplasty and a open heart surgery planned in the early summer. I hope it doesn't interfere.

So my appointment isn't for 4 months. Then it can take up to one month for approval. After that it can take 3 months for the DOJ. Then I need to make another appointment for issuance, which can take up to another four months?

So one year total?

Typical DOJ approval is in 2-3 weeks. I think Ty's (Bombmaster) took something crazy like 9 months for some reason but it's not typical for any to take over a month.

Yea, I was dumbfounded. I waited 2 months longer than others that applied after me. My DOJ alone took 40+ days. This was the first time having a livescan. Other with previous livescans for other reasons waited only days to get their results.

One guy I talked to was live scanned for little league coach. His livescan with the Sheriff SO took only days. Its possible the DOJ only checks back to the previous livescan. No need to do redundant work.

Apparently there's some maintenance going on so some links on the CCW initiative page don't work. See http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...0&postcount=43 where Brandon gave an alternative link to a CCW application form that can be filled out on your computer and then printed.
