I wish you could have banned him from ever owning a gun. Inconsiderate, self centered, egotistical people like this do not have the proper judgement to own deadly force, in my opinion.

I did see one guy with some old tickets in his wallet checking to see which one was closest to the one on the sign. I didn't know if he noticed me staring at him, but he pulled another number "just in case." Seriously? 99% of the people there were on their day off. I still had to go back to work and these guys think they've got better, more important things to do on their day off to pull crap like this? I have to hand it to the staff for noticing these douchebags even though the place was a madhouse.

Some solutions are too simple. A "sign in" sheet when you arrive? Can't cut through someone else's name. Just a thought.

Sure, why not. How many Johns, Mikes, Jimmys, Bobs could there be in this world?
Number system is the most cost and time efficient way to do this.

I would've made him pay the price of what a new roll of numbers cost. That stuff isn't free.

So he goes home, changes clothes, and then comes back

Publicly shaming your customers for bad behavior. I have half a mind to make a special trip to your shop tomorrow and pull all your numbers.

I would think in order to publicly shame someone you would have to make it public who the person is. I didn't name him, post the video, or even describe his appearance. This guy came in and tried to screw over every customer waiting in front of him and you think that we are the ones acting badly? I hope that he has read this thread and is privately feeling some shame.

Paying people to write down names and cross them off doesn't seem like a good value. If you don't do that some jerk will just cross off names and put his.

Probably a good idea. Apple store and a lot of cellular stores do this.

And this story is amazing. I'm all for bringing back shaming in society.

Keep your system how it is. Nothing wrong with the number system during my times at RG! And I have gone during the end of year to experience my 2 hr wait. It doesn't bother me at all. Exposing customers for bad behavior... Well, those customers, I'd rather not have.

I've been to RG many times too and have had no problems with the pick-a-number system. I was pleasantly surprised that they gave it a more modern "boutique" like atmosphere with sofas so people can sit while their number comes up. I think RG should set a new standard for gun stores!

But going back to the issue, I think the issue can be avoided if RG buys reusable plastic coat check tags like these:

http://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Coat-R.../dp/B00GA60OKE

When the number is called or someone doesn't want to wait in line, they drop it in a collection box and someone puts it back in order so you guys can re-use them over and over again. Would save you some money in buying and refilling the ticket machine and you won't have to deal with douches like you mentioned.

Give it a thought if it makes sense.

One other question: Have you guys ever thought about expanding your retail business by adding more stores (i.e. Turners, Cabelas, Bass Pro)? I would go to every grand opening store!
