I have to ask... how many of the weapons in this thread have never been fired? Shotguns don't stay looking new very long once you start using them.

Also, shells are much easier to load from a ready position of you have them pointed up rather than down. The shells will move around a little but they won't fall out unless your carrier is junk. Pulling the shells off from the top requires an awkward reach over the top of the weapon and into your sight picture.

Also, some of these weapons look really heavy. The first time I took an all day shotgun class I realized how hard it is to keep a shotgun pointed downrange for any length of time. Upper body strength is part of it but so is keeping the weapon as light as possible, especially at the muzzle.

It is fun to build scary looking tactical guns, but please make sure you take these bad boys out and put 100+ rounds through them and work the guns hard on the range. That is the only way you will know how effective and practical your setup is.

Here is my "tactical" shot gun. It does need a small light, but otherwise it is ready to go. Older (90's) Express Magnum that does not seem to suffer from the lower build quality being reported on newer 870 Express models

In reality, these are my go-to boomers that are in the different safes / access points. Old, mean, and unfailingly reliable. All of them are Police trade-ins. The Ithaca M37 is in there for looks, as I have not even test fired it yet. The other Wingmasters are fantastic guns though.

Just picked this up this morning. Have only been able to fondle it for about 2 minutes before I had to get to work. I am thinking of getting a Black Aces Tactical rail system for it.

What's the rear sling attachment you're using on the Hougue buttstock there? I've been looking for something like that, but not sure what they're called or who makes them.

i have a few of the old OEM Remington LE Metal Folders. a year or so ago, i picked one up lnib W/original instructions from a fellow Calgunner. i purchased it as a piece of Remington history, as the folder is now obsolete. i suppose the inclusion of the original box and instructions helped in prompting me to turn the deal. for me, it's a lesson in some amount of pain to shoot an old Wingmaster with the metal folder and 00 Buck onboard.

nevertheless, i thought i'd mention (if you don't already know) that the OEM Remington Metal Folder has become a collectible and has some value as such.

I know of a So Cal PD that had the folder on its 870's back in the '80's. They tossed them in the trash a few years ago.

Courtesy of J.D. from AIP Tactical.

Everything I need (just need a light) and nothing I don't:

-2 shot extension
-18.5" barrel
-XS big dot
-6 shot side saddle
-Magpul forend
-Mesa Tactical Urbino
-Wilson jumbo safety (not really jumbo, but certainly easier to operate)
-Timney trigger fix

I shot the hell out of it before I did anything to it.

No really, I did:

1980 Wingmaster, new Remington Supercell recoil pad, Remington parkerized 18.5" Mod-choked, smoothbore, rifle sights w/ Tritium inserts, Andy's Leather Rhodesian sling.

Waiting on a Wilson 1-shot mag tube extension w/ sling mount and one of their polymer 4-shot sidesaddles (might mount it, might not).

Here's mine:

Started out as a 870 tactical from Big 5, circa 2008.

Updated the extractor with non-mim extractor and updated springs. Also updated to an aluminum follower.

Replaced the barrel with a a 20 inch Wingmaster barrel with deer sights and RemChoke.

Added sling, supercell recoil pad.

That's about it. I'm thinking about replacing the +3 mag extension with either a +2 or +1 extension, as I find that I usually only put 5 rounds into the magazine tube when I shoot it, since boxes of shells usually come in some multiple of 5.
