Default 🙈 Makeshift Concealment (What have you done?) 🔫

I don't know about you guys (and ladies), but every now and again, I'll need to temporarily carry my gun without a holster and without pockets (or at least without pockets/pants durable enough).

For example, I want to carry my gun while driving to a softball game in which I'm a player. During the game, I'll just lock it in my car's gun vault. While driving to/from, I'll have it in a small holster in my covered center console. However, going from my condo to my car, I have to walk out "in public" for a very short distance. I don't want to holster my gun in my softball pants, and the two back pockets are too small to carry a firearm.

So, to satisfy the concealment requirement when in public, I've done one of a number of things: from sticking the firearm in my softball glove...to putting it in my baseball cap and carrying the cap in my hand...to simply holding it under my shirt while walking (in a nonchalant way)...to putting it inside my gear bag. If I have a towel, I'll just wrapped it in that and walk to my car.

Also, I regularly put wrap it in a towel when I go down to my garage to lift weights. When weight-lifting (or just working in my garage), I just put the gun on a garage shelf under something where I can easily get to it, if needed. (it's a private—not shared—garage)

How about you? What are some of your temporary makeshift (and/or most bizarre) concealment efforts?

I have a zip up pistol rug that I use. It doesn't have any logos on it, so it almost looks like a personal organizer.

Walmart shopping bag. Anybody asks, "just returning something".

I do the same as you except I just put it in my softball bag and carry it into the house. If I'm drinking after the game it stays locked and away from me. I don't want to have a LEO think my carry gun is accessible to me if I've had a drink. I don't drive drunk either.

Oh...and "Carry-Alls."

Camera bag or belt satchel made for cell phone, sort of like a Sneaky Pete but way cheaper and actually can carry more stuff other than a gun. I actually turned a few civilian bags and satchels into covert gun pouches.

I've also had to just put it in a folded tee shirt or towel just to walk it short distances.

Depending on the gun (works best with smaller options) you might want to look at TechnaClip + kydex trigger guard.

The one great thing about the plastic bag law is that I have to carry in my own bag.

Yep, hence my answer in earlier post. Everyone is carrying around a wad of Walmart bags these days (except the ebt crowed, theirs are free).

I have used the following to conceal my daily carry:

- Fanny pack
- Day pack or gym bag
- Inside pocket of a vest.
- Inside of my cargo short leg pocket
- Inside of my ankle boot brace.
- Bicycle jersey pocket.

Note: In each case, I had a holster with my weapon that covered the entire trigger guard.

I'm thinking about getting one of those trigger-specific guards with the tether to remove it upon drawing the gun. This could be useful when using impromptu concealment. However, I would have to find something to which to tether it.

With my hands full of other things, I've carried my firearm stuck in one of my shoes that I was carrying. This was from my car to my house. I had a spare shirt draped over it since the grip was exposed.

microfiber towel always works well. Besides helping with concealment, it's always something you can use.

Anything that covers the shape, the holster, making it unrecognizable. I've used shirts, plastic bags, reusable fabric grocery bags.

But I really like that lunch pail.

Sometimes I carry my LCP in a back pocket without a holster condition 2 if I'm going out to my car or something at night. I use a pocket holster pretty often, I've got some unconventional holsters I've used a few times like a belly band and an ankle, this is with an LCP. Typically use a small iwb holster with a clip that goes behind my belt and tuck my shirt in over the gun as well. If I'm in an emergency I will need to get it out and this isn't going to be as easy as I'd like but it's better than nothing, and I never carry the LCP condition 1. When I'm carrying in an environment where I don't have to worry about printing quite so much I just use a standard iwb and carry my shield 9 loaded but on safe. I do all my training with my weapons in these conditions. If I had an external owb holster like a typical police holster with retention and all that on a Sam brown I wouldn't have any problem with carrying loaded and safety off. If I'm going into a more high risk situation I might chamber a round on the LCP. I know many of you think that's crazy, but I don't feel comfortable with carrying that way, I at least want a safety on something that is rubbing against my clothes, body, stuff i might bump into etc that could blow a hole into a major artery in my leg and kill me, or have an ND that is career ending.
