Sorry to be dense but the USPA 2009 rifle rules don't mention Heavy Metal as a division. Is it just Major PF Tactical and Major PF Limited? And there's no more one-hit-only-required for certain divisions?

If you hit the alphas, you only need one hit to neutralize .

2009 Rifle Rules don't include HM as it's typically a multi-gun only division. USPSA never bothered to update the 2009 rifle rules when they released their 2012 Multi-Gun rules which list specs for HM divisions.

Here is link to it at USPSA website:

USPSA 2012 Multi-Gun Rules

And BTW, James is correct, all divisions can engage targets with one round only, just have to make sure it's an A hit

As soon as match fills and registration closes I will publish competitor info list. Probably sometime in mid January is best guess here. We are about 80% full at this point.

According to Appendix A5 in your link, "minimum cartridge" is .308 Win/7.62x51. Does this mean I cannot use an AK shooting 7.62x39 154gr bullets? (Power factor is 329)

You make the Power Factor, you make the division in the BARC :-)

So Limited requires you to use irons, correct? The MG appendix for limited allows for one non-magnified optic, but the base rifle rules do not.

Correct, the addendum's always override the published rules from previous dates.

Limited allows for a single NON magnified, FIXED power optic (no LPV's cranked down to 1x) or a NON magnified electronic sight (RDS or similar) in place of, or in ADDITION to standard iron sights.

80% dang... guess I better get mine in soon then.

With all the division gaming going on, I'll just bring a Limited, an Open and a Tac rifle to the range and decide on site :P

As Raymond mentioned, you will need to qualify for the match by taking the RRGC Safe Multi-Gun Competitor class. Info at the Richmond Hotshots Website

You do not have to complete the RRGC safety class to enter the match, you just have to complete it AND get some practice experience at the monthly Multi-Gun practice sessions Raymond runs at RRGC before you shoot the match. So if you are serious about doing this I would recommend entering now rather than later as we may fill up soon and you won't get a slot.

As far as what Division your equipment will put you in, you have 2 choices with that setup. You can compete in Limited or Tactical Division. Limited would be a better choice as the Eotech has no magnification and in Tactical you will be running against folks with magnified optics which puts you at a disadvantage on long distance targets.

I am interested in competing this year but would find it difficult to come up for your class. I haven't competed in a championship level 3 gun/multi gun match is a while, just local stuff. But I have competed in more then a couple over the years. How do I find out if I am eligible to compete?

Hi Bob, you have been competing in USPSA events as long as I have, you have a USPSA classification and loads of demonstrated experience, just send in your entry and you are good to go :-)

Our safety certification process is for folks who are new to action shooting and have little to no competition experience.

Details on our requirements here: BARC Website

As you will note, only one of the listed requirements needs to be met and you meet it in spades!

Welcome aboard.

But keep in mind that the multigun rules specify 20+1 rounds at the start for heavy metal tactical and 20 round mags only for HM limited.

Edit: Nevermind, read the BARC page that invalidates the above comment. -<whee>-

That won't be an issue, we are going by 2009 Rifle rules as relating to no mag capacity restrictions in the standard Limited and Tactical divisions being applied to HMT and HML respectively for the BARC. The 2011 MG rules addendum creates the new divisions, the 2009 rifle rules govern them as this is a rifle only match, not a MG match

Yep, noticed that on the BARC rules page after I posted. Trying to decide between .308 and .223 but the 20-round .308 mags could make a big difference against AK's. Part of the joy of the sport...

30's are available for the M1-A

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/300...und-steel-blue

Just gotta' legally have them already

Alternatively, you could utilize the inherent accuracy advantage the M1-A has over the AK and just shoot all A's!

Hey Geoff... How about a "mulligan card" in our goody bag... a one-time do-over pass.

Huh? That would be very popular.
