The one I saw was supposed to be the best one they had in the store and it was in pretty bad shape. You may not have missed out too badly, I would have bought one too.

I've read elsewhere these are not Norinco and are classified as Curios and Relics by BATFE. Any truth to this? I have C&R/COE that's why I ask. Not that they will honor 10 day wait exemption as they have before, but worth a try.

these are not made by norinco but not listed as c&r. it's known chinese sks are not c&r due to lack of manufacturing data.

There's manufacturing data for /26\ (Jianshe) arsenal, at least, for the early SKS made there. These are C&Rs based on date of manufacture.

The one I got is from 1959, for example.

Here's a good site for the info: http://www.yooperj.com/SKS-24.htm

I bought mine from J&G as a C&R. These are Century imports, from the same batch as those at Turner's.

Picked one up last sat in Norwalk. They told me it would come from their warehouse. Luck of the draw I guess.

FV sold most of their allocation within a few hours last Friday.

They appeared identical to the Yugoslavian I have. I was hoping for a spike bayonet SKS. Still a great rifle.

Those Chinese SKS are listed on this week's flyer again. Why are they listed as "Good" condition? They don't look in too good of condition. I called one of the stores, and the sales guy said they are in pretty bad shape.

they are not collectibles, most of them have very little blueing left, stocks are well worn but good bores...

they are great shooters. it's amazing how they a beating and keep on ticking...

FV store has plenty of these rifles. apparently many people had buyer remorse over their condition and cancelled their orders...

I'm also told these latest batches are exported by Vietnamese communist government.

There have been quite a few decent ones in this overall batch, but the half dozen I have seen in person were rust buckets so I passed.
