I was told the same thing and my interview was at the Auburn station, not sure if it had changed but that is what I was told in July 2016.

Just got mine. It didn't even take half the time I was expecting!
Application: January 21 Livescan: January 23 Interview: February 7 Email for Approval: February 22 Pickup: February 22 Paper permit. This might bode well for new applicants. We are talking just about a month of waiting. |

Way to go, PCSO. They've definitely got this thing figured out.

Nothing out of the ordinary. You probably will speak for about 15 -20 minutes. They take a picture of you and they have already looked at your past so it will be more of a casual conversation. I say just be honest and most important, be on time.

I need to add a 3rd weapon to my CCW - my renewal isn't for another 7 months so it will be done with a permit modification. My question is, do I also need to qualify again with my other 2 weapons already listed on the permit? Or do I only need to qualify with the weapon I'm adding?

You only need to qual with the pistol you are adding. Then you will need to re-qual with all of them sometime before renewal.

Congratulations. Just curious, how long did it take for you to get an interview? I had to wait over 4 months back in 2014 when I got mine from Placer.

^ Congrats!
Their new online system rocks. I did a qualification for a weapon I was adding on a sunday, went home and scanned my certificate and filled out the ccw modification form on the website later that night, and that friday (5 days later) my new permit was in my mailbox.

I moved to Rocklin from Elk Grove a couple of months ago. No need to question why, the answer is obvious. Anywhoo, Sac Co. permit no longer valid. Applied online for a Placer CCW. From the time I applied, to the time I received my notification that the permit is being mailed to me, was 2.5 weeks. Holy shizzballs. My Sac permit took close to five months to get. I should have moved years ago.

This fast new system is pretty recent, only a few months old. Welcome to Rocklin, that's where I call home as well!

My renewal is in 5 months, but I'm sure it will be just as smooth and fast. Did a modification recently and my experience was similar to yours.

I just recently moved to the Newcastle/Auburn area and previously had a CCW in Sac county. Are the acceptable good cause statements the same? For instance, in Sac my good cause consisted of me wanting to exercise my second amendment rights to protect myself and my family. Does this fly in Placer?
Thanks in advance for any help. I'm primarily looking for a response from someone who has applied and been approved under the new Sheriff. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

Does anyone know if we're supposed to thumb-print our CCWs that come in the mail? There's a spot for a thumb print, but the post-it note the office put on my CCW only said "please sign". They had my thumb-priint my original one when I picked it up at the station though.

Placer County timeline update
First time on CalGuns and newly approved CCW. Thought a timeline update may help folks looking to apply in Placer (as of today 5/24/17).
Took CCW class on 5/14 with my wife (what better Mother's Day!). Applied online with PCSO on 5/15 and was able to set appointment for 5/24. Got LiveScanned on 5/16. Went to interview today (5/24) and LiveScan was already back and after interview the investigator said I am good to go. Waiting for final notice to pick up permit. So all told it was about 2 weeks from start to finish. Investigator noted that since the CA attorney general change things have sped up immensely with LiveScan. Coincidence? Hmmm. And no, there was no line of questioning in the interview about reason for CCW. Just questions about background. The investigator I had was a really cool guy and very personable. Was pleased to see I was looking to get CCW. That's what I know folks. |

Holy crap... they're moving so fast it's not really even worth tracking the timelines anymore - two weeks from start to finish?!? Not even 2 years ago, the wait was 5-7 months!
