Default 1N09 Cleanup

I was shooting at 1N09 today when a couple of Forest Service officers showed up to take pictures of the trash left by shooters. They said that they are trying to organize a cleanup of the site, since the trash is not only unsightly but is also concerning for contamination of natural water flow through the area.

The cleanup will be sometime in the near future, and they will provide drinks/food and whatever else they can to expedite the process. I told them that I would be happy to help, work schedule permitting. I think that this would be a great way to not only take care of one of the last legal outdoor shooting sites available in the area, but also to represent our fine shooting community here at Calguns. The site is not as bad as the usual condition of some of the other sites, but it is certainly unacceptable. It shouldn't take that many people to get it taken care of. If anyone would like to help out, please reply or send me a PM. Thanks.

I havent been up there for like 12 years, I'm surprised its open with the heat. Sucks to hear people are leaving a mess. Did you drive all the way across to Barton flats? I remember a river crossing did you make it across or is the snow melt making the crossing too deep? Also can we shoot centerfire like AR's up there? I only remember shooting handguns up there. I might go run up there on monday with the kids if its open and shoot and cleanup what i can carry. I'll call the ranger station and check it out.

The glass is the worst! I only have a passenger car so I'm usually doing some hiking. But even still, I take out as much as I'm able whenever I go up there (other people's trash not mine).

Please count me in. PM sent.

Any word on a clean up day? My wife and I are up that way fairly often and are in to help if the schedule permits.

That is an awesome trail. I was not aware that it was closed but at an hour to get there for me, I never bothered to check it out after it was closed down. I do not know that I will ever care to go shooting there again, but maybe hunt for brass. If something can be done to organize a cleanup, damn, my hats off to ya because that is spread out and a PITA...
