In this war, sides must be taken. I've noticed public companies like amazon have taken their side with the antis. it would be a cop out for a publicly traded gun company to use "their duty to the shareholders" to avoid taking a side. I'm sure a sharholder outcry to get on the right side of the issue would break though the noise.

Probably true. My question would be... companies such as S&W, Glock, Sig, H&K, etc..... what percentage of their American sales from government contracts vs civilian purchases?
If the answer is that civilian sales are higher, then can companies choosing the government contracts over civilian sales would be bad for the company in the end. Stockholders only want the bottomline... "what makes us more money!"

Glock makes a premium on non LEO sales. They should have a stake in this.

BCM too, it's on their home page
The people at Bravo Company USA and BCM support responsible private individuals having access to the same tools of civilian Law Enforcement to affect the same ends. Securing and defending ourselves, our loved ones and innocent people if the situation arises. As such Bravo Company's policy is that law enforcement officials and departments will be restricted to the same type of products available to responsible private individuals of that same city or state. |

This is great but people we have a problem. The big three gun makers are not on board but worst off of the now 35-40 companies taking a stand as I understand it none of them are ammunition manufacturers!
All these companies hold more power than they realize in this debate but the ammo makers hold the keys to the entire thing. We need the ammo makers to get on board asap. Do whatever you can to encourage them to say no to local state and federal agencies. Guns in the hands of govt or people are useless without the ammo!! We need to take this fight fire with fire attitude to a new level and Fight Fire With "Nukes"

We need major ammo makers, Colt, Glock, Remington and Smith & Wesson. More importantly, they absolutely need us. There may come a tipping point where the big companies will have to choose. Companies who only do business with the government are in a very precarious position.
If holdout companies discover that the population will shun their products in favor of the many, many other quality manufacturers, we will see changes. Corporations are responsible top their shareholders. Business is business. This is a brilliant approach. If, say, Glock (as a hypothetical example) held out, imagine if people starting dumping their used Glocks for 50 cents on the dollar and ceased buying new Glocks. With a glut of Glocks it would drive down the price of Glocks and their sales and stock would plummet. If push comes to shove, I would do it. I could be very happy with an M&P or an XD Or vice versa if the tables were turned. Hell, I could build a double stack 1911 and call it a day.

This sounds good, in theory! Maybe it'll turn more police agencies against legislature.

The next step for this is the NRA to make this an issue and support it. I know they take alot of $ from gun companies but if they are truly for 2A rights for the people, they should jump on without hesitation.

This isn't true. In fact the only company that actively lobbied against the 1990 import ban was HK. They love U.S. shooters but because of current laws their hands are tied. Now I would guess they are almost solely supported by government sales.

The NSSF would be a bigger impact since they are the organization the truly represents firearms manufacturers. The NRA does get some money from companies but individual/private donors are the bulk of their fundraising. Still NRA would be good too.

One,contracts are binding agreements, especially between private businesses and government customers.A hypothetical contract S&W signed 2 years ago to sell and support M&P pistols to New York State LEO agencies can't be broken overnight without significant penalties, and probable litigation for breach of contract. I don't doubt that many more firms would like to boycott anti/gun states and departments, but their hands are tied until their govt. contracts are fulfilled.

I almost think that it's better that it isn't coming from the NRA. This push-back is organic and authentic, and I'd like to see it stay that way. One great aspect of this effort is that it clearly shows that gun manufacturers, contrary to the popular dialogue, are not bloodthirsty, greed-mongers who will do or say anything to make a sale. This is a principaled position that puts its money where its mouth is.
