Exclamation Out of State, California "Friendly" Ammunition Dealers starting 2/1/11

I'm trying to start a list of CA friendly ammunition dealers (and the non friendly ones too). The list is not intended to badmouth one particular dealer or another, but more to see who is willing to listen and deal with CA's idiotic ammunition law and others who simply don't want to deal period.

So far this is what I have confirmed:

Willing to ship rifle ammunition to CA (whatever rifle ammunition is defined as):

BuffaloArms
Century International Arms
Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)
Dan's Sporting Goods
Exile Machine LLC
Georgia Arms
Glen's Outdoors
Graf & Sons
J&G Sales
Midsouth Shooters Supply
Military Shooters
RM Ammo
SG Ammo

Willing to ship handgun ammo (and rifle) to "exempt" citizens of CA (i.e. C&R FFL holders with CA DOJ COE, LEO's, CA FFL's):

Century International Arms
Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)
Dan's Sporting Goods
Exile Machine LLC
Georgia Arms
Graf & Sons
J&G Sales
Midsouth Shooters Supply
Military Shooters
Palmetto State Armory

NOT shipping ANY loaded ammo to CA:

Ammoman.com
Ammunition To Go
Cabela's
Cheaper than Dirt
Dillon Precision
MidwayUSA
Powder Valley Inc.
Sportsman's Guide
Surplus Ammo
USA Ammo

Will not ship reloading components to California:

Cheaper Than Dirt
Dillon Precision (Bullets (projectiles))
Palmetto State Armory

Please add to the list as you confirm with each vendor or have some sort of written statement or advert. I'll try to maintain it over time. Also, if you have information contrary to the above list, please provide documentation.

Pretty sure PVI will:

www.powdervalleyinc.com

Here is the e-mail that I sent on 12/22/10:

PVI,

Will I still be able to order projectiles from you guys after 2/1/11?

For instance, I have ordered Hornady .44M and .50 AE bullets (projectiles) from you - AB 962 refers to loaded handgun ammo - not components.

Some suppliers are applying very liberal interpretations of the law and not shipping anything that has to do with handgun ammo.

What say 'ye?

Thanks And Happy Holidays,
John W.
San Jose, Commiefornia

This is the response I got from PVI on 12/23/10 - which was posted in a thread on this exact topic previous to this thread:
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=376113

John,

We are keeping an eye on this issue.
As of this time we will plan to continue shipping all components to California.
There have been several actions in process to clarify things but nothing concrete has developed.

Thanks

John

I have contacted both of these vendors and am awaiting a response. It would be helpful if you contact vendors not mentioned/listed yourselves so as to expedite the updating of this list.

Regards.

Default Response from Powder Valley

xxxxxxx, we are aware of the law. However, we are still waiting for a
specific interpretation from the California DOJ. We can sell to you at this
time but until we receive a written interpretation from the California DOJ I
am unable to commit to purchases beyond Feb 1.

Thanks

You can put Exile Machine LLC under both categories:

Willing to ship rifle ammunition to CA (whatever rifle ammunition is defined as):

Willing to ship handgun and rifle ammo to "exempt" citizens of CA (i.e. C&R FFL holders with CA DOJ COE, LEO's, CA FFL's):

We'll also ship as much pistol ammo as we can to anyone legally allowed to receive it, right up to the deadline.

We have not yet made a decision about AB962. We are hoping that pending litigation will make a need to make such a decision moot. We'll have a decision before 1 Feb.

SGAMMO responded to my email about this very quickly and said they'll still be selling what is listed as rifle and shotgun ammo on their site to CA. Once things settle down they'll look into the 03 FFL and CoE exemptions.

LEO's who are authorized to carry a duty weapon are exempt from the mail order handgun ammo ban, but again, the purpose of this list is not to discuss the law itself as there are other discussions in this forum regarding this....

Please add to the list only. Thank You.

That's weird. John tells me something totally different:

Bob,
As you have stated and as we understand the legislation in it’s current form it is applicable to cartridges only.

We will continue to ship components to California until there is an application to components.

Thanks,

John's response to me concerned loaded ammunition only.

Post #1 of the thread has been updated to include those who will not ship components to CA.

That is weird, I thought I remember someone posting on here in another thread that midway would continue to sell rifle ammunition and would honor the 03ffl/coe exemption.

On another note. I emailed sgammo.com and their response was that they would continue to sell rifle ammunition to CA. I also asked them if they would honor the 03ffl/coe exemption on the handgun ammo and they either forgot or neglected to respond to that part. I will be sending a follow up email about that.

Surplus ammo is out of Cali until the bill is overturned also.

"CA RESIDENTS:

Regretfully, due to California's new AB962 our last order accepted for ammunition will be on Tuesday, Jan. 25th at noon Pacific (barring any successful repeal of AB962). Understand this is not expected to be a permanent, absolute stop on ammo shipments to California. Until it is fully determined as to specifically what ammo (i.e. calibers) is allowed and what is banned from shipment into California, we must err on the side of caution until this matter is better defined."

His response....... "On advice of councel will not sir"

There goes another one.

Default I'll add Cabelas to your list of not shipping loaded ammo

So far this is what I have confirmed:

Willing to ship rifle ammunition to CA (whatever rifle ammunition is defined as):

Ammoman.com
Ammunition To Go
Cabela's
Century International Arms
Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)
Dan's Sporting Goods
Exile Machine LLC
Georgia Arms
Glen's Outdoors
Graf & Sons
J&G Sales
RM Ammo
SG Ammo

Willing to ship handgun ammo to "exempt" citizens of CA (i.e. C&R FFL holders with CA DOJ COE, LEO's, CA FFL's):

Ammunition To Go
Century International Arms
Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)
Dan's Sporting Goods
Exile Machine LLC
Georgia Arms
Graf & Sons
J&G Sales
Palmetto State Armory

NOT shipping ANY loaded ammo to CA:

Cheaper than Dirt
Dillon Precision
MidwayUSA
Sportsman's Guide
USA Ammo
Powder Valley Inc.
Surplus Ammo
Cabelas see their webpage for CA no ship info

Will not ship reloading components to California:

Dillon Precision (Bullets (projectiles))
Palmetto State Armory
Cheaper Than Dirt

Please add to the list as you confirm with each vendor or have some sort of written statement or advert. I'll try to maintain it over time. Also, if you have information contrary to the above list, please provide documentation.
So are you saying that the above companies will ship to CA residents after the ban comes into force on 2/1/11 ?

I'm confused. Palmetto State is listed as willing to ship handgun ammo to exempt persons on the OP's list but not rifle ammo. Their website says no ammo, no components after the 20th???

What's the deal with them? Can someone clarify?

It clearly states above each list which companies will ship what and to who.
