Yes; just upload your qualification sheet after you take class.

Does Moreno Valley sheriffs office still do live scans? I read on Reddit they did last year. Looking for a location I can set to an appointment at right after my interview next week. Iím in the Moreno Valley area so any suggestions in this area would be great. Also If you know the associated fees pertaining to that specific location as well.

I heard the CCW Unit will now Live Scan you the day of your appointment. Just bring your rolling fee money.

MARCH 29th 2021!!! I expire in February. Hopefully I can catch a cancellation.

Glad I saw the posts. This feels a lot like the initial app (2014) that took 8 months to get an interview. Yet, I'm very happy people are applying to carry. We need more out there!

On the bright side, I can wait until it cools off a little to do my qualification / class.

Starting my timeline;
Renewal app 09/07/2020
Email 09/08/2020 RivCo advising me to email 6 weeks before expiration
Set my training up with FTA for 11/6/2020
Appt 03/29/2021
Adding to my time line; I received an email from my assigned deputy. He told me to email him about 6 weeks before my permit expires and he would get me in. My appointment was scheduled for March 29th and my permit expires in February....

Good to hear they will accommodate you before expiration! Did you feel that the renewal application was as comprehensive as the initial application?

When it was paper, the renewal application is exactly the same as the initial app, just a check mark for renewal.

I've saved a copies of the app over the years and other than some small changes it seems to be the same. I had to re-upload my birth certificate and utility bills along with my drivers license.

Here’s the Application Form. It was combined in 2012 for STANDARD INITIAL AND RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR LICENSE TO CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON.

Did the requirements change since May 2020? My initial CCW qualification class was only 8 hours (total)

Nope - I had a brain fart

From the RCSO website:

If applying for a NEW Carry Concealed Weapon license, a 8-hour firearms training course must be completed prior to issuance.

If applying for a RENEWAL Carry Concealed Weapon license completion of a 4-hour firearms training course is required prior to issuance.

Just to clarify, for a renewal, itís:
Upload required docs for ID
Upload proof of class and quals
Pay
Make interview appt and wait?

No fingerprinting process anymore?

Renewals haven’t required fingerprints.

looked around and couldn't find the answer easy enough so any help would be great.
I'm moving (staying in the county) and wondering how soon the address needs to be updated after the move. I haven't received any bills to send them yet to prove the new address. Can I legally carry for a week or 2 before sending the updated info to the sheriff?

Default Riverside Renewal Timeline

My permit expires the end of October.

Applied for renewal online July 31. Uploaded required documents.

Attended requalification training at BCTC August 22.

Interview on September 24.

Submitted addendum to GC statement September 25.

Received notification of approval on September 26.

Very easy, straight-forward process.

They request a "Good Cause Statement" on renewal? What did they say was wrong with your initial GC statement that required an addendum?

I had four paragraphs on my GC; two talked about being retired and traveling to remote locations, general concern about the safety of my wife and I. Typical GC stuff. He said if I had stopped with that I would have been good to go, but I added two paragraphs about personal hobbies.

He said since I added those they needed proof (pictures and receipts). I sent them over and got approved right away.

The moral of the story is sometimes less is more.
