If you've basically lived your whole life here in SoCal, Quantico in January will redefine your notion of 'cold.' Luckily for you, if necessary they will break the ice off of the Quigley just before they make you wade through it... On the plus side, at least you won't have to cross "that f***ing bridge" in the dead of winter just to go to chow.

I sure hope that effing bridge is still there, that would be a damn shame if candidates didn't have to parade back and forth between the barracks and the chow hall. Just one more thing to look forward to when you cross that bridge for the last time.

Do yourself a giant favor. Your not far from the mountains, so try to drive up to Big Bear or another mountain town a couple time a month and run. Especially during the cold mornings.

This will better prep you for the East coast winter.

I realize you're going in January. I was referring to the fact that there's a new chow hall on the same side of the tracks as the rest of Brown Field as of a few years ago. Candidates don't have to cross "that f#$%ing bridge" to go to chow anymore, so be thankful you won't have to do it when it's colder than you know what outside.

AFAIK it's still there... they just won't be route stepping while counting down the number of remaining times they have to cross it.

I just finished reading One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

When did they build that? I was at OCS 200 in January 2009 and we always crossed the damn bridge...

Nothing like putting two Marines together and finding out who had it tougher

Oh and whoever mentioned Quantico in January, he is absolutely right. The only way you could be more cold and miserable would be if you were at BUD/S.

Not sure what TBS class you'll be in but be prepared for frequent power outages in the quarters with even the slightest rain or snowstorm

I went to OCS over the summer. Tore up my knee pretty bad so I didn't graduate

Get ready for 2-3 hours a night of sleep, constant work, and a lot of yelling from the Sgt Instructors.

peanut - we crossed the bridge as well - Summer 09
