If you want a ccw in Sutter Co. all you need to do is apply. As stated on the Sheriffs website "self protection" is good cause. Only took me 3 weeks strat to finnish.
Highly recommend the class at http://www.twincitiesgunclub.com/ccw-classes

Default Sutter County Questions

Anyone know how long it takes to get your CCW in Sutter after the interview?
Just got it all completed yesterday and I was wondering if i would have it by the end of month.

Thanks in advance,

Robert

I've already gone through the process but I am wondering how long after the interview do people usually have to wait until they get the call to go and pick up the actual permit from the sheriffs office. oh and thanks for moving my thread.

Wow, amazingly smooth process here in Sutter Co. Took my class on June 20 - 21, Called on the 18th and scheduled my interview for June 29th, and today I recieved my permit. Under 30 days for the entire process!! Only 2 weeks from interview day to permit in hand! I called all my buddies in Sac County that have waited MONTHS for their interviews, not to mention $100's more for their classes. I am thrilled to join the CCW club!!

Well, let's face it. Them people in Sacramento are not as trustworthy as you folks in Sutter Co.!! They have to be scrutinized a lot more. And them people in SF and LA just cannot be trusted altogether! Isen't it amazing how geography has such a strong influence on people's trustworthiness?

So just a heads up in regards to what I would call a "wording preference," Sutter County likes the language "self protection" as opposed to "self defense."

Sheriff Paul Parker was my patrol sergeant back in the day. And Undersheriff Jeff Pierce was my primary FTO. Both are extremely pro-2A and pro-CCW if you are a law abiding resident of that county.

My permit expires 1/6/2014 (tomorrow). Am I screwed? I called the # on the Sutter CCW page and some lady who doesn't work in the records division answered. I told her my dilemma and she just said to call tomorrow when the records division personnel are in and that it'll probably be ok...

I REEEEALLY don't want to go through the initial application process all over again. What do you all think?

Alright you guys, this is an update for you sutter county folks.

I called for the interview in Feb of 2016, had my interview August 20 of 2016, Just got my CCW Jan 2nd 2017.

The officer told me the interview process is faster today than it was when I had applied so it might not be a 6 month wait for the interview. However, the FBI/DOJ back ground might still be a long wait. roughly 5 months for me.
