Buffalo Under Bed Safe $257 at Home Depot
Was considering purchasing this safe and had the link bookmarked, then today noticed it went on sale at $257. Thought I'd pass it along. Free shipping to your home or to your nearest HD.

Agreed "Haha the pictures of it in the bed of the truck are funny. I don't think I would ever haha...", but a car trunk or SUV (without a trunk).

I came across this safe the other day when searching for an under the bed safe. If you compare this to the specs on the Snapsafe branded one or the monstervault, they are the exact same specs. Same steel thickness, same dimensions. And from the pics appear to be the same keypad/ lock system. Weight is the same. My guess is that all these manufacturers are getting the safes from the same supplier in China or somewhere, and branding them as theirs. A monster vault is about 700 bucks, and with the same specs, this is a steal. I ordered one early last week, and I should have it by end of this week. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Wow, that sucks. Could the safe be opened without the combo or the key once the lock is damaged the way yours was? IOW, can a thief defeat the safe by just destroying the lock?

That's the same $2 Chinese lock you find on $30 lock boxes. It is also the same lock that Marc Tobias demonstrates on Youtube opening without the code, by a 3 year old child, with a simple knock.
I would never spend more than $20 for any container with that lock, and only to keep my cat out of it. The fact they chose it tells you everything else you need to know about the product: they dont care about quality, or your guns. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=erGOJxQIf5c Last edited by SkyHawk; 06-14-2017 at 10:32 PM.. |

Yes the drawer was able to open freely with the lock busted like that. It's not clear if breaking the lock alone would allow the drawer to open, or if it was a combination of the lock being broken and the force of dropping it from however high it was dropped. You could probably duplicate this if the safe was set up on end, and the lock was hit with a lot of force from a sledgehammer or something like that in my opinion.
