ranger wouldn't even let me and my cousin go off-roading he literally blocked the entrance and told me we could set something on fire by doing that.

Lol thats lame but I can understand his frustration and distrust. That place is packed in the mornings with people breaking the law and shooting.

I hope they open it back up at some point. I have a 10/22, a mossberg 500 and a new AR that I will be finishing next week...I haven't shot any of these guns yet lol. Probably hit up the new range in Poway to zero the 10/22 and the AR.

I google earthed it, but had to shut down the laptop real quick.

The location was real dark and stuff was getting sucked off the shelf beside me and hurling into the screen.

In two years they will open the first phase of tract homes. After that will be an executive golf coarse. They are still waiting on approval for a Movie theater, and Lowe's home improvement.

Here you go just look at the picture. Now you know where to look to see if BLM land is open. Straight from the horses mouth.

I guess the picture came out blurry but go to the blm Web site and click the Palmsprings office then click on the recreational use click the the target shooting one. If you call their office they will also tell you that you can not target shoot but you can still hunt during the fire restriction.

ALL BLM land in Southern California is at Stage 3 Fire restrictions. Meaning you cant shoot on it. if you look at the map that I pulled from the BLM site you will see this area is from South of HWY18 and the 15FWY and from west of HWY 62 / HWY 111 and the 10FWY is closed to shooting.

Here is the BLM site I pulled this from. It takes a little while to load.

I was told that Cal Fire recommended the closure stay in place until January 1st. All of that assumes we have some decent rains before then.

the Phase III fire restrictions were ordered Jan 2014, the additional restriction on recreational shooting was ordered in May 2014.
so it looke to me like as long as it it phase III there will be no shooting, and it may be phase III permenantly.
looks like time for a class action suit.

Per BLM, the area will be closed to shooting until fire season ends, meaning after 2" of rain.

That would accomplish nothing. The science is pretty much in, dry brush burns.

Nothing has changed on the blm website.

Effective Beginning Friday, May 23, 2014,and until further notice:For*all BLM-managed lands within the jurisdiction of the Palm Springs - South Coast Field Office that fall within the Stage III Seasonal Fire Restriction area,*recreational target shooting of any type is prohibited.* The Stage III Seasonal Fire Restriction area includes all BLM lands in San Diego and*Orange counties, portions of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and most of Riverside County west / south of Highway 111, and west / north*of Highway 62.

Best thing is to make a drive out and see what's going on. I might do that this weekend. Bring a couple toys with just in case.
