Need to identify 2 matchlock muskets
I have just found these two matchlock muskets I believe to be Indian Made Toradar or Fortress Matchlock Muskets. Sorry the picture in bad. Waiting for help to lift and move around. One is 9 feet long the other is 7 feet 8.5 inches. Anyone have a clue? I can not find any online even close to this size. They are laying on a California King bed to give you an idea of how BIG they are. I just because they are very cool have offered $1000.00 to the guy who owns them to but them. Good or bad deal. They are rough but appear to be complete with the ram rods.
Thank you. William |

those are both very cool I don't know anything about matchlocks or their value, but I love the look of them.
I have a children's book called " the matchlock gun " written in 1949, about a very young boy who saves his family by killing Men in order to stop a home invasion/farm raid. he is so small he can't even pick up the rifle. the gun is described as longer than a grown man. it takes place in New York when it was still a British colony and the French we're leading Indians out of Canada against the settlers near Albany. it's a good read with both color and black and white illustrations ,maybe not too politically correct by today's standards. though I think it's rare and unique. unfortunately I must sell this if anyone's interested please send me a pm. if I were you I have a museum curator or appraiser take a look because you might have found something very valuable. I can't imagine too many of those early rifles made it to today and in good condition. nice find. |

Interesting find! No idea what they're worth on this side of the pond, but in Britain they're being offered for £250.00- 375.00 (GBP - £) = about $372 - $558 USD.

It's a pretty cool specialized forum, with folks making reproduction wheelocks, etc. http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fu...um.php?fid/15/ |
