Default When moving from one county to another?

Do you really have to reapply for a ccw if you move from one county to another? A friend just got his in San Bernardino county, would like to move to a city in riverside county but say he would have to go through ccw the process again, any truth to that or is he misinformed?

I'm pretty sure that's the truth. You have to apply in the county you live in.

It's true - PC 26210, in relevant part:
Quote:
26210.

...
(d) Notwithstanding subdivision (c), if a licensee’s place of residence was the basis for issuance of a license, any license issued pursuant to Section 26150 or 26155 shall expire 90 days after the licensee moves from the county of issuance.
"place of residence was the basis for issuance of a license" means you live within the jurisdiction of the issuing agency - if you don't, that agency can't issue you a license. And if you move out of the jurisdiction, the 90-day timer starts.

Also...
When you change residence (address), you must notify your issuing agency within 10 days of moving. [PC 26210(b)]

Penal Code 26210
(b) The licensee shall notify the licensing authority in writing within 10 days of any change in the licensee’s place of residence.

Yep, your friends right. I had my ccw with riverside for almost 7 yrs. Wife and I decided to move, we just so happened to move outside riverside. I'm starting the process all over. I notified the unit that I had moved (within ten days) they told me my permit would be non valid in a couple of months and that I need to mail it back.

Has anyone ever asked their previous CCW IA to write a reference letter for them for their new IA CCW application? I'd think that would be a great reference as they can mention that you've already been granted a ccw before and have been carrying for x number of years without any incident.

I didn't, It was listed in my background packet. I wouldn't be surprised if they contacted my old IA.
