My first Troll post ever, sure got a response.

I don't hate Glocks, just like my plasti-Springer better than my son's friends 23, something about that mushy trigger compared to the XD's.

Dear Bobby R., it must be tough for you to lower yourself to mix with us heathens, sad for you.

Now now, EVERY gun is worth owning! Except a taurus, they probably aren't worth owning. That being said, the 1911 is more worth owning.

The worst kept secret in the world is the vast disconnect between a Glock's MSRP and the actual value of the pistol in practical terms. Aside from the market distortion caused by the roster, it actually makes sense to dump money into a Glock and tailor it to an individual's tastes when the base model is relatively cheap.

I do recognize your sarcasm, but some faux-elitists actually think like that.

The Taurus clones of the Beretta 92 are great pistols, actually.

I think I’m down with cerakote and blingy triggers but I dunno if I can get into the gills - just seems dirty, like chicks with tattoos and dermal piercings.

ok, so, I'm not the OP, but I just got my Brownells slide today and feel pretty giddy to go to the range on Sunday, and felt the need to share mine. Also, yes, I chose to go with the nice combo of black and gaudy gold

Just got a Brownell's g19 rmr slide, threw a type 2 RMR on there, and an Apex Trigger, and some stipple/undercuts and oh boy do I get tingles in all the right (or wrong) places.

On a more serious note, an RMR on a handgun is amazing. I used one in a class about a month ago and decided I had to have one. I have almost been exclusively a Glock guy. First handgun i ever shot was a 17. So I am used to them. So the red dot/sight alignment from draw was a non issue. Dot is almost always dead center upon extension. Man does it make moving and shooting and longer distance shots easier. Still getting used to the whole target focus instead of front site post focus thing.

Also anyone thinking about buying a Brownells slide, I would say go for it. I put 500 rounds through mine of blazer aluminum, white box, and steel case. no malfunctions and consistent ejection. I did not lubricate the gun either. Only issue I had was mounting the RMR. If you get a type 2 sealing plate, the provided screws were to short to grab the threads on the slide. Get Brownells to send some 4-40 3/8 screws instead of the standard 1/4.

If anyone has not had the chance to try it, you really need to.

finally got to run my standard 15's with +3 baseplates and do a few mag dumps. Felt great

If I walked into the range with that beast, I'd finally be taken seriously as a pistolero. At least until I started shooting anyway.

Old guys like heavy guns like 1911's to dampen the shakes and light triggers make it easier to pull the trigger the moment it sways over the bullseye.

I'm laughing and looking down at the poor masses who can only afford to shoot 9mm Glocks.

Mine is a Gucci 10mm.

Nice Build! What is the 1911 in the background for......to give you street cred on this thread?

Seriously, I liken building up a Glock to Porsche's race program for the 911 chassis - it was said about it "You can't make a race horse out of a pig, but you can make a damn fast pig!"

I waited till Monday to come back to this thread. As I sit in my cubical and go through emails, wanting to punch everyone through my computer, I occasionally read a comment or two to laugh at all the peasant who dont have their Triple G card, or at the FUDDs telling me their fossil 1911 is better. L O ****ing L.

"mY 1911 wOn TwO WoRlD wArS!"

Will upload pics of the fantastic plastic later so we can really start comparing peni......I mean wallets size in a bit!

So far SnWnMe has the biggest here, Gucci 10mm is too expensive for me

Polymer80 frames enable you to build a Glock-less "Glock." Aftermarket everything.

having both, I prefer the rear irons forward of optic.

when you mount the RDS, that becomes your primary sighting system. irons then become secondary, and you dont want any other sight in the way of that view. when you bring up your gun, you should have a perfect view of the red dot. this takes practice bc without practice, many will have trouble finding the dot. with reps, as soon as you bring that dot up, its right there. having the iron behind the RDS, some folks will focus on the rear sight then the dot, which is incorrect.

having the irons forward also gives the glass a little bit more protection. although, the RMR has been through alot and held up quite well.

when (if) the the RDS fails, theres info on training for scenarios that may occur - using the corners of the RDS as a frame, is an example. technology is great and if you take care of your gun and its components and change its battery, it should take care of you.

sagedynamics on YT, check it out: https://youtu.be/zrrlxEwUaRM

hes got excellent info, specifically for this type of platform.

My slide is at battlewerx right now, can't wait. Have the new HE508t on order but will just buy the HC507 if I can't wait, about $80 less.
Went slide milling over aftermarket as with the sights installed was $220 vs $180 for slide + parts kit + channel liner tool + me ****ing it up

It's OK OP, here is my Gucci Glock - fit for James Bond.

I (want to) hate Glocks........ I really do. They are blocky, ugly weapons. But EVERY FREAKING time I shoot one I am impressed with the results. I will never let my 1911's go, but last week at CCW re-qual I shot my P2000 , which I absolutely love, and my G 19 back to back. I shoot the Glock much better. AND I shoot it MUCH less So I am finally caving and am going to send a slide out this week for some "work" and I guess I'm climbing on the bandwagon of Gucci Glocks. Damn you Gaston!

When I saw this video I then realized upgrades don't matter on any gun. Once we get on Jerry's level we can compare and contrast, other than that it's all baby talk , the video is pure evidence that it's all skill based. I myself have half a Gucci Glock but I gave up on it a long time ago...

Cool! I had been thinking of doing this! I bought an adapter plate so I could mount a Burris FastFire on my G34, and it was really accurate but the plate moves the sight vertically quite a bit so it's not natural to bring the pistol up and be able to see the red dot. So I don't really like it, plus as an afterthought, putting the red dot on a G34 seems silly.
I have a Gen 3 G19 which would make a good platform for it but was thinking I'd prefer a milled slide as a host for the sight. I would probably just transfer all the bits and pieces (barrel, etc) from the stock G19 slide to the RMR cut slide.

Glad to hear it works well for you!

Well consider this ... all the pistols Glock makes are just a small tweak away from all the others. Injected plastic frames, stamped bits and pieces. Then a 1911 has a whole other set of parts. Why on earth would they bother building a 1911. Besides making a Glock 1911 would just ruin Glock's reliability reputation.
