Default CCW Restrictions

Apparently the BASS PRO SHOP in Rocklin has a requirement for CCW holders to check firearms before shopping in the store. It seems this is not a company wide policy but it is at the discretion of local stores. They just lost me as a customer.

Same policy at Bass Pro in Washington. But despite all the people who carry here I have never seen anyone over at the check in counter.

Really? I didn't notice that sign, or if I did I misread it to only apply to people taking guns in for service, etc (Sportsman's Warehouse does this)

Unless the policy has changed, this is old news and seems to derive from ambiguous signage, or poor reading skills.

Bass Pro Shop CCW Policy See Page 1, Section III, Para 3 & 4:
Quote:
...Unless exempt as described below, all customers who bring firearms or devices capable of discharging a projectile to the Customer Service Desk, first must be directed to the Greeters Desk before any associate handles the firearm or device.[...]
Customers that are legally carrying a concealed firearm or legally open carrying a firearm are not required check their firearm with the Greeter. Also, Law Enforcement and Armored Car Personnel are not required to check their firearm
It was reported in:
2012: guns.com. https://www.guns.com/news/2012/06/26...d-carry-policy

BassPro responded
Quote:
Tobi Roberts - Bass Pro Shops says:
June 21, 2012 at 7:28 am
Our official policy on CCW is as follows.

In any state where there is a concealed carry issued to an individual, our policy is to only ask if the customer has the proper permit if one of our associates sees the weapon. As long as the customer confirms that they have the proper permit, we thank them for their time and tell them to have a wonderful day. We do not ask to see the permit, nor do we have any policy that requires our customers to check their weapon at the door.

Now, on a broader issue: STOP READING SIGNS!

I thought the sign said "IF" you plan on unholstering?

Regardless you should ask management, they also have a sign about no pets at some stores but allow them none the less.

And caught is caught and revoked is revoked. Some IAs have a restriction against carrying in a business with signage against firearms.

What do you mean ‘apparently’? Did you hear it from someone who heard it from someone? Or did you personally see a sign or do you otherwise have personal knowledge of an official policy? And if you have personal knowledge or a photo of a sign etc, please ELABORATE.

Otherwise this sounds like textbook FUD and I will not alter my shopping or carry habits based on this flimsy post.

I like to keep my concealed firearms concealed. It’s never been a problem.

You can start with Sac Sheriff Policy:.

(And let’s not stray into the argument that if the restriction isn’t on the license, it doesn’t matter...the LTC is “may” issue, which means, “may” revoke.)
Quote:
Restrictions Applicable to All Sacramento Sheriff’s Department Permit Holders (Permit will be invalid if violated):
 No alcohol consumption is permitted while exercising the CCW permit and carrying a weapon.
 No permitted weapon is allowed where weapons are prohibited by law.
 No permitted weapon is allowed at locations where a sign is posted prohibiting weapons.

I never knew that. Thanks.

I saw no such signage when I was there yesterday.

All good points, and since everybody has a phone camera, a picture would be good.

But, then again, OP won’t go back ever.

I don’t care what their CCW policy is.

From my perspective, BPS bought Cabela’s in Sep 2017, and Cabela’s threw Californians under the bus with the ammo law in 2018, refusing to ship reloading, speed loaders or anything else to us.

Or did we forget Cabela’s stupidity?. Yeah, they treated us all like prohibited persons. f’em.

Same policy at the Bass Pro in (Las Vegas) Nevada.

Since posted signs at private property does not have any legal weight in NV, everyone just ignores it.

Which I intend to do after I check into my room at the Silverton later today.

The idea of concealed is for the weapon to be concealed. If a staff member making $10 and hour can be certain without a reasonable doubt that you are carrying a concealed weapon, you FU**ED up, big time.

So I was at Las Vegas Bass Pro yesterday a couple times, stayed at the Silverton. I didn't see anything concerning CCW and the only sign I saw at all was "no weapons past this point" at the registers leading to the casino.

And yes, I ignored that one. I did spot one other person carrying in the casino, but only because I noticed the clips on his belt when he pulled his wallet out at Starcucks.

Are you sure he wasn’t just practicing with an empty holster? I understand that’s a “thing”.

I’ve never appreciated the holsters which slap a retention clip over or around the belt...including the ones with a stylized cross on them. My holsters run “J” clips reversed and run under the belt to show a small lip under the belt. The belt holds the gun in place, and the minimal lip keeps the holster in place during the draw.

He may have been, but I wasn't.

Mine clips over the belt, I generally tuck my shirt and use a tuckable holster with the black plastic clips but honestly I think nobody notices. This is probably only the second time I have ever noticed them on someone else.

If you walk into BP with a cased firearm it needs to be checked. I used to work at BP. Some CCL people would flash their cards but it wasn't required. The policy was, concealed is concealed. People read too much into signs or have a reading comprehension problem. Even if you were to try to check a concealed weapon you would be told it was not a problem with a CCL.
