Default I don't know what this is on my desktop

an icon that says "bin"
when I hover it says- folders: DLLs, DriversPack, Grub4dos, iconengines,...

Says it was created 4/15/2018 but I didn't do it.

what is this?

yeah it's an image of a folder, looks like hundreds of files mostly less than 300KB big, total for whole folder only 152megabytes

I tried Googling it but stoopid Google only came up with "recycle bin" stuff which this is NOT

'bin' refers to binary files used by your system or a specific application.

I have no idea why it would be on your desktop. It should be buried in the depths of your system somewhere.

I’m I missing a picture of it somewhere? I don’t see an attachment.
Are you sure it’s not a shortcut to another location?
I see people create shortcuts, move folders or copy folders all the time without meaning too.
If it’s a folder find a file in it with an uncommon name. Search the C drive with the name of the file to see if there is an identical file elsewhere. That could tell you if you copied another folder there somehow.

My guess is you accidentally created a shortcut to a systems folder or other essential file folder for a program on your computer. If the folder has a up/rightward pointing arrow on it, it's a shortcut and can safely be deleted. If you're uncertain, leave it alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

1) Scan it with your AV.
2) RC it, click "properties", that'll tell you if it's a shortcut or not.

If it is,

3) delete to recycle bin.

If it isn't,

4) don't empty recycle bin until you're sure you don't need it.

Create a restore point.

Delete file.

Restart.

If it works, great. If it doesn’t, then restore and leave it alone.

Or you could just nuke the whole computer and buy a new one. This could be your excuse.
