Default New AR Pistol for California, NOT A SINGLE SHOT

Many months ago the team and I were brainstorming on a way to bring a repeating AR Pistol to California. Last week, we received notice that our Franklin Armory Pistol was approved and will be going on the CA Roster!

https://www.franklinarmory.com/produ...lin-armory-ca7

The pistol features a 7.5" barrel, M-Lok handguard, and a detachable 10/20 magazine. (This is not to be confused with the two pistols that were added to the list previously that were simply single shot designs.) The beauty of this pistol is that it will be on the California Roster so dealers will know it is legal. CCW holders will be able to place this pistol on their license since it was not an SSE acquisition.

Make: Franklin Armory
Model: "Pistol"
Action: Straight Pull bolt Action
Caliber: 5.56 NATO
Barrel: 7.5"
Capacity: 10+1
Configuration: CA7
SKU: 3130-BLK
UPC: 818725011955
MSRP: $934.99

Dealers accounts welcome.

Probably because it's "Bolt Action" and not Semi Automatic.

....Can it be changed to Semi Auto after Purchase?

....If not, Side Charging would have been Awesome.

A bolt action pistol. Hmm. One assumes it may be upgrades at some point to semi-auto. Interesting idea.

For legal reasons, we are not allowed to opine about what a consumer might legally do with a CA7 after they transfer this state certified SAFE pistol. However, I will state that our Drop-in Fixed Magazine (DFM) is an ideal way to ensure that a semiautomatic pistol remains a compliant fixed magazine firearm.

How about a picture of the right side of the receiver then?

Yes. That is how we make the CA7, and that is how it will transfer at your dealer.

From our discussions with CADOJ personnel, it was clear that they intended to prosecute individuals that purchased a single shot exempt pistol and later modified the firearm to semiautomatic. While I think that may be a very hard case for CADOJ to prove, we saw another option.

We decided to pioneer a new pathway to bring a certified safe handgun to market so that consumers would know that it is safe, dealers would know that it was legal, and Sheriff's would know that if could be CCWd.

At NASGW, we informed the distributors that it was coming. Many of them were very interested.

Here is our distributor list in alphabetical order:
2nd Amendment Wholesale
AmChar Wholesale
Bill Hicks
Chattanooga Shooting Supplies
Green Supply
MGE Wholesale
Orion Wholesale
Sports South
Williams Shooters Supply

It will take time to prime the supply channels, but we also have direct dealer accounts throughout California.

While most of our manufacturing has moved to Nevada for obvious reasons, I am still a Californian (and CRPA board member.) Never give up!

Is there a prohibition on CCW-ing non-roster pistols or pistols built using the SSE? First I've heard of that, but then I only recently found out that for the most part LEAs won't add legally-acquired unregistered pistols as well (although it's not clear to me if that is issuing LEA policy rather than law; I haven't seen anything yet that it is the latter).

Also, any chance of a .300 BLK version in that length?

What's the legal difference between converting a single-shot bolt-action to a semi-auto fixed mag and converting a bolt-action detachable mag to a semi-auto fixed mag? If there's some argument to be made about manufacturing a new firearm in violation of 29180 or manufacturing an unsafe handgun in violation of the unsafe handgun law, it would apply equally to both actions, no?

That’s the wrong model you’re looking at. That’s an older model this new one is not on the roster yet.

Correct. CADOJ staff have yet to post the new listing, but it is a done deal. We thought we'd tell Calguns folks ahead of the press release.

We will look into a 300 BLk.
