Default I just put a deposit on my dream rifle...

A Keltec SU-16. :-)

(I know, I have low expectations...)

I don't know why, but I've wanted one for years...

Make sure you fill out warranty paperwork.

Congrats BFG!

I wanted a Keltec sub2000, back in the day... Glock mags, foldable, 40sw/9mm--what's not to love?! Ha. So hard to get one 3 years ago, when I was looking. Looked for like 6 months or more.

Ended up getting a CZ Scorpion....

Good luck with your dream rifle!

Lol, mine went back for warranty two times before I could even shoot it.
That said, CS was really good and relatively quick, I think it was only two months from first receiving the rifle until I shot it.
CS was far better than their QC.

OP, it's sort of a fun little rifle to shoot, makes a great truck gun.

Nah, wee don' need no steenkeeng warrantee!

I bought my DE used from a guy here. He said it was in good condition and my inspection showed some wear, but nothing outrageous.

Dang thing had all kinds of FTE and feed problems no matter what I ran through it. I bought a Magnum Research rebuild kit for less than 50 bucks and it has run flawless ever since.

To me guns are like trucks and motorcycles, if it don't run the way you want it to, break out the tool box and tinker.

If your idea of "pointless gun" means grinning from ear to ear every time it goes to the range, then my DE is the most pointless gun I own.

THAT'S the useless. My D. Eagle has not been reliable in .44Mag. I just got the .50 conversion, hopefully it will improve as such... but I can't afford the ammo right now. :-)

I happen to like the Keltech SU16, and have owned several through the years. They are a decent piece of kit, and are great as a hiking companion. They are incredibly light weight, use AR15 magazines, and (unbelievably) are as accurate as most AR15 carbines.

I switched back to a Mini-14 about 3 years ago, as they are more durable (but they are more expensive, too). In fairness, I have been shooting and alternating between Mini-14s and Mini-30s since 1982. Through that time they coexisted with my AR15s, AKs, and an assortment of other "Black Rifles".

I still have an AR15, just because...

Except for the firing pin that breaks when you look at it wrong
