Default Home Automation

Any home automation geeks here? I am looking for the following:

Garage Door Automation
Wifi/zwave
Able to "lock" the garage door so standard RF remotes don't work while "locked"
Some integration capable either through API or zwave controller such as vera lite.

Essentially, when my alarm is armed I want to ensure the garage door can't be opened via RF remotes (in the case I lose a remote or the signal is cloned).

Anyone know of what product fits the bill as an add-on or is the only option actually changing the garage door motor assembly with a "smart" one?

Thanks

Open the wall control for the garage door and solder wires to the lock switch and connect them to a momentary closed relay circuit on your alarm controller that will cycle each time the alarm changes state.

That's what I'd do.

I'll check if my unit has a "lock" function because if that's available I can use a zwave circuit that does the momentary closed. It's about 15 years old..

I did see a workaround though... getting a zwave/wifi enabled socket and just turning off the garage door motor when I want to "lock" it. So I'll go one of those routes.

Turning off the power eliminates opening the door without an override switch from inside. May not be the safest consideration if something unexpected happens.

When the lock switch is on, on a garage controller, the door can still be opened with the open/close button, just not from a remote.

I hear ya..in the event the unexpected happens if I'm on the inside I can pull the emergency latch and lift the garage..

The electronic "lock" would be my preferred approach as well if my unit supports it.

Thanks for the feedback.

You can install a garage deadbolt that will work independently from your garage opener. A quick search showed this https://securitysnobs.com/ELocksys-G...-Deadbolt.html.
I dont know its reliability but its sure not cheap

You won't catch me automating, especially with WiFi-enabled devices, and phone controlled lights. Hell my lady said the fan on the microwave turned on by itself...

'My wife asked me why I carry a gun around the house. I said "Decepticons".

She laughed. I laughed. The toaster laughed. I shot the toaster. It was a good time.'

Look up Coolautomation;

I sell them for a HVAC controller but they control blinds, lights, dishwasher, awning, etc.
