Why not? As long as you have a good attitude you are welcome.

We are all here to learn. Even the instructors can learn. It will be a great day for all of us.

I'm in for this barring nothing big comes up. I know there's some MIL/LEO guys on here, maybe a few of us can work together and do a short weapons manipulation and intro to tactics class?

I think what we are going to need most is more grill space. I can do burgers and dogs on mine, but its not terribly large (about 1x3')

Welcome. I am assuming we would cover a typical shtf scenario ala Katrina NO type , or were you thinking about a generic intro to tactics class? Good idea, either way.

Generic intro to basic tactics, Intermediate weapons manipulations and improvised firing positions, different firing drills and weapon transitioning drills was my thought. I'm actually looking at getting my NRA cert and starting my own small training course. I've already written a basic, intermediate and advanced course syllabus so it would just be some stuff from that. I've got a pretty long background in firearms training so I really enjoy it. I usually lurk and read in the forums here a lot, I just don't post much lol

Edit: It would all be based on experience level, we'd do whatever everyone was comfortable/capable of. Safety first and always!

Just remember, the clinics are going to be 30 mins long. Very short amount of time. IMO that should be left for an all day firearms class.

Just my 2 cents.

That's a pretty good point. Maybe we can work it in with the target shooting portion? I'm up for whatever the general consensus is. I'd also be willing to do it on the side on a weekend or something.

In 3 weeks I am doing an all day class on that very topic with Greg Block at Burro Canyon. For a 30 minute class I would be far more interested in quick tactical thinking ideas.

Someone is breaking into your house, what do you do?
Defensive Ammo for survival? FMJ, JHP, Specialty defensive rounds? What is survival? What does it mean when it comes to firearms tactics?
SHTF, what should you be carrying with you? What is too much/too little?
Caliber discussions of common survival firearm calibers. (5.56, 7.62, .308, .22lr, 30-06, 12 gauge, etc)
Things you can quickly talk about in 5-10 minute blocks with 2-3 topics hit in the 30 minutes.

Agreed. That would be much easier to cover in the allotted time. We could do similar training at a different time. I've spoken to a few members on here about doing that previously. I'll put something together along those lines.

personally, I've always wondered about these subtopics:

shooting to disable vs. shooting to kill
shooting a fleeing looter to recover stolen property

These would be interesting to touch on just to cover them. The quick answers are...

Always shoot to kill, it is illegal to shoot to disable. If you feel you have the time to disable a target then your life wasn't in danger in the first place and so you had no need to use deadly force. You only have the right to employ deadly force when great physical harm and or death is imminent.

http://www.policeone.com/officer-sho...or-tactically/

In California you *cannot* shoot a looter fleeing with your goods.

Have we considered a rotating schedule for presenters so they can take a break and maybe visit one of the other workshops during the day?

Workshop 1 - Classes at 9:45, 10:30, 11:15, 12:00pm
Workshop 2 - Classes at 9:00, 10:30, 11:15, 12:00pm
Workshop 3 - Classes at 9:00, 9:45, 11:15, 12:00pm
etc.

This gives presenters a chance to go to another workshop as well.

We should ask people to make a commitment to participate the first week of March. We need to know how many people will participate so that we can plan our workshops, ensure we have enough supplies, food, etc.

Thoughts?

This would be a very good idea...once it hits the fan we won't be able to get out of the city, we're stuck here unless you have an inside track of info alerting you to bug out while everyone is trying to figure out what just happened.
