A couple of pages back I posted my first Colt Snubbie,a 1952 Colt Cobra LW.
Well I found another 1952 Cobra . It is a few serial numbers different ,so I grabbed it . I hope that they are a breeding pair. {pics of both enclosed} These are really addicting.

Love those dective specials, myself, .... but which one is it? No, wait, the two on the right look like Colts, but I'm not a dective.

That top pistol looks to be a sweet piece - is it model 19, or big .44? Nice photography, whatever!
My neck hurts too, but if you tilt your head to the right, you can see a rig like the U.S. Marshal used in Gun Smoke. Remember those first shows, when the revolver would turn toward you, the cylinder would go the next chamber, then ... Blam! I grew up with guns, speed boats, girls, and airplanes ... so no wonder I am a rich, care free playboy to this day. Cowboys? Not me. I'd rather chase girls, than cows. But, as a young boy, I had no problem building a tree house high in the fir trees, then hoisting up a cow or two for recreational purposes. This required a hefty set of lineman's climbing spikes and a sturdy rope. Somehow, there was always a thick beef steak or salmon roasting over the coals, often with oysters and clams, crabs and lobsters, and occasional young girls with which to dine ... Melissa. My first love. At a ridiculously young age. But it was a love i have never experienced after that fire on the vacant lot. Sixty years ago, sure. It was a burn to clear land for a home on Rocky Point. The rest of the memory is dim, except for Melissa's curly brown hair and blue eyes. Our ability to love forms at an early age. And so, it can be shattered, never to form again. To this day, blue eyes and curly brown hair have me trapped ... and it is now time to bring this story to a logical end. The End. After a thick juicy prime cut of beef cooked medium rare, I would carefully extinguish the fire in my tree house, and set the isenglass curtains to protect my treehouse from the heavy rains that frequented western Washington during my childhood. Seriously, though, all I can see is an S&W here, but I have to be guessing - a model 19 (.357) or some kind of .44 - how the hell am I supposed to know? Excellent photography, though.

Here's my .357
Mr. Smith? Meet Mr. Wesson. Never mind, this was way before the Cloud People came from the mountain. I was only detained long enough for the mist to drift away. And the hand cuffs to be removed. Just kidding. Is humor left anywhere in this world?
I snapped this image on a chilly morning northwest of Mt. Shasta while putting fuel in my truck seemed a good idea. I turned, and was stunned, and started scrambling for a new, high tech camera I knew was buried somewhere on the passenger seat. Short story long, I exposed who knows how many mega pixels (2) of the sun behind Shasta (before sunrise). This is the one of amazing features of this new generation of digital cameras. I have not moved the setting from "Auto". So, I feel stupid. Via luck, and hands that were not damaged at the time, but I have cameras that require adjustment. But have no film. |

I'm pretty sure it's a 629 in .44 Mag, but we'll have to wait for him to confirm.

Oh my. I really, really shouldn't ask, but what sort of "recreational purpose" would a cow in a treehouse serve?

Poor man's trigger job.
There's a retired A.F. Colonel who follows the gun-shows around. He has his own table and does spring jobs on all types of revolvers. I had him do two of mine, a S&W M629-6 Classic and a S&W M60ND. Made a huge difference in both single & double action modes. I think it cost about $25.00 per gun & well worth it. You can get the Wolf spring kits from Brownells or Midway if you need to do it yourself. More snub pics! Group snub pic. N frame M624 ND, K frame M19-6, & J frame M60ND. Bruce

Nice!! I'd like to have something like that, but I wouldn't want to do it to one that wasn't already cut up.

Here are two of my latest acquisitions. Both are S&W pre-10 .38 SPL M&Ps, the one on the left is from the early '40s, the one on the right from the early '50s.
Note that the barrels are different. The one on the left originally had a longer barrel and was cut down at some point. The upside is that it still has the full length ejector rod which pushed the empties nearly all the way out. Also, check out the hammer designs. The older hammer shape seems to work fine on N frames like the 1917, but on a K frame like this, it blocks the sights until the you start to stroke the trigger. The newer design doesn't have this problem. |

Both are nice snubbies. I like the cut down M&P with the longer ejection rod too. That one would look cool with a nice pair of stags.

I just got back from the range shooting it for the first time, it's definitely a shooter! I was quite happy with how it performed, though the trigger is quite heavy compared to most of my newer S&Ws, I may consider swapping springs in it. |

Does the mini-revolver count as a snubbie?
I know the Chiefs Special does.
