It is a fund raiser for the Friends of the NRA Foundation.
The monies raised are distributed via Grants to various entities in the state.
Monies are used for Projects and Individual Eligibility.

Dave Cain, owner of DC Arms and sponsor of this event, is on the Central California Grant board.

Evening starts when you walk in the door.

Along one wall will be a line of tables with merchandise on it and buckets placed with the item. You walk down the line and toss tickets into the bucket of the item you'd like to win. During the course of the night a ticket is drawn from that bucket and the winning ticket takes home that item.

Donated items run the gambit from Jewelry, tools, clothing, hunting stuff, camping stuff, kitchen stuff, household stuff, ammunition, reloading stuff, gun stuff etc.

Another line of tables will have actual firearms of all makes and models again donated by various groups, entities, agencies and individuals. Same thing here, you browse the line fondling, Oooing and Aaahing over the guns tossing your tickets into the bucket of the gun(s) you'd like to win. During the night a ticket is pulled from the bucket and the winners gets the firearm, after a 10 day wait of course.

While all this is going on the EmCee will hold up a different firearm and announce as soon as 52 cards are sold this Gun will go to the winner. These are a deck of 52 cards, you buy a card for say $10 and its torn in half, you get half and the other half goes into the bucket. Card is drawn and winner gets the gun.

Also have a Spin the Wheel and Win thing with various prizes.

Generally have 4-5 different tables setup with buying tickets for another drawing of firearms.

Then there is an Auction of NRA marked items at the same time as those other things are going on. A set of twin Vaqueros (consecutive serial numbers) NRA gun of the year went for $2800, a bidding war broke out between 2 guys, I got out at $1100, too rich for me.

There is a list of FNRA Event Merchandise here that will be Auctioned off in this manner. Its a hoot to get in there and bid.

Its a fun night and over by 9PM.

Dinner is catered and delicious.
I'll get the menu and post it.

For 3 years in a row I've taken my wife to this and she has fun even though the past Banquets have fallen on our Anniversary in February.

Fortunately Dave moved it to March this year or I may be single or she a widower. Each year has drawn a larger crowd so we were able to secure the new facilities at West Hills College.
