I think we crossed that mark long ago. There have been a LOT of orders placed. I knew the 320 build would be popular but man, it was even more popular than anticipated.

I want to grab one of these.

Can anyone point me to the most recent AND correct thread which details how to build this 80% legally? IE Bolt action, etc.

Not any one thread but it’s pretty simple. Buy, engrave before July 1 with name, city and a serial of your choice, build as single shot bolt action first, document with pics (optional but recommended), and convert to semi afterwards if you wish.

I just ordered mine! Anyone in the bay area (San Jose) with a jig that wouldn't mind letting me rent/borrow?

I’m located in Vacaville and I have the the Inlander Arms Easy Bolt with the universal extended 9mm barrel insert. I can lend out my Easy Bolt kit if I can borrow your P320 jig. I first need to get a P320 80% FCU and FCU parts kit since I already have a couple extra sets of 9mm complete slides and grip modules. Or I just might wait for the 45acp kits to come out.

Instead of waiting for the 45acp jig and 80% FCU to come out I’m wondering if we can modify the currently available 80% FCU to accept 45acp?

Check out this link with pictures comparing both 9mm and 45acp FCU’s.

Maybe the steel parts that are circled in red can be grinded down with a dremel?

I have a 9mm FCU but don’t have a 45acp FCU that I can closely compare with my own eyes. I can’t really tell if the 45acp FCU is wider than the 9mm FCU in that picture.

Can anyone here who has both FCU’s confirm if this is possible to do with the current 80% FCU?

This answer can probably be found by the search function, but for sake of this thread, does the gun need to be registered once completed?

Anyone in for a North Bay/SF jig/easy bolt share or party? I really want to hop on this but have neither and don't want to tool up just for one.

I'm sure there are a few, if not many people from the bay. I plan on renting both items, maybe we can start a list of everyone around here that needs to.

I don't understand why anyone would document the building of an 80% firearm. There is no legal requirement to do so and if you get in trouble for possession/use of an illegal firearm, a prosecutor would somehow have to PROVE beyond a reasonable doubt that you constructed the firearm in such a way that it was illegal. The only necessary defense in this case would be, "I constructed this 80% firearm according to all the laws of California and the USA". However, if you document the build with pictures and perhaps you missed a crucial step (or perhaps even missed only documenting a crucial step) or accidentally used an incorrect/incomplete part, you have just provided the prosecution with proof beyond a reasonable doubt that you have done something illegal.

I doubt, very strongly, that someone will be prosecuted SOLELY for an illegally manufactured firearm, but rather as another charge to levy a longer, harsher sentence (and a longer, harsher plea deal) against someone who is being charged with other crimes. In that situation, you are basically screwed anyway. You can still get cleared for the charge regarding the illegal manufacture of a firearm, but the harsher, more serious offense could still be guilty and you go to jail for the rest of your life anyway. No one, not even law enforcement will really care about you or your guns if you just take them to the shooting range every weekend and then go home and put your guns away responsibly, which is what the majority of us do anyway.

Build your 80% P320 FCUs legally, don't talk about how you built it illegally and don't take pictures of your firearms beyond personal use or information. When the photos have ceased to be useful for those purposes, delete them.

Good luck with your builds, ladies and gentlemen.

Assuming it's built and engraved with a serial number before July 1, can I voluntarily register it? And would that allow me to sell it later?

I'd just hate to build one and later decide it just ain't for me. I've only shot one P320 and haven't decided if I quite like 'em yet.

So let’s say one is built. Single shot with easy bolt, then convert. Is it required to register with DOJ or are just pics for proof in case something happens good enough?

$649 for the Standard model. You can upgrade to the higher models as an option. If you want to buy your own jig as well, it's an additional $150

I had that question myself as well. Also realized you could probably sell everything BUT the fcu and recoup a good amount of your cost

That is correct. $649 for the basic 9,40,357 sig compact or full size, and then there are upgraded options for additional cost. For example you can get the X5 kit for $930, or one of the RX kits for a little more.

Default $649 Sig P320 80% Build Kit Group Buy

So I know people have been wondering about the process involved with completing the FCU. I was lucky enough to get a hold of the prototype jig and wanted to post the process.

1. Insert 80% into the Jig

2. Pre-bend the tab down so that they're started before using the top half of the jig.

3. Insert the top half of the jig and then either hammer the top down, or we found that if you turn the jig sideways you can use the press to actually compress it and bend the tabs

4. Cut the excess rail length off with a hacksaw. I wasn't able to get a good picture, but you use the top piece of the jig as a guide for the hack saw. It was so easy a cave man could do it.

5. Drill the holes. As you can see in the jig pictures, the holes are all clearly marked with the required bit size. There were a total of 9 holes to drill and using a drill press took about 10 minutes.

Here is a picture of the completed 80% next to a sig factory FCU.

After drilling the holes you will need to cut a small section out where the trigger slides through. I used a hacksaw for this and then filed it smooth.

After some trial and error we found out that if you are using the gen 2 parts (all of the kits being shipped from F&F are gen 2), you will need to cut off the indicated tab. Otherwise you will never get the FCU assembled.

I will be posting a list of tools that are needed to have on hand (files, dremel tools etc) to complete the build shortly.

What tab are you talking for the gen 2 kit.

Nope, there isn’t any heat treat required after. And I’m not sure how you missed the pictures of the jig, the jig was in like 5 of them lol.

Sig is having a sale on mags right now. P320 10rd 9mm mags are $33. Not sure if that’s cheap or not. Other models on sale too

The slides are different lengths as well. You are probably better off buying the kit you want.

What about compact and carry? Looks like only the grip length is different.
Sorry for ignorant questions, want to make sure I like the size and what to do if I don't.

Yes you can use the volunteer registration form VOLREG.PDF and submit the registration with your engraved serial number. I did this and ended up selling an 80% built/serialized pistol out of state because I didn't want to deal with California laws. It went to the buyers FFL where he DROSd it.
