Default So I Bought ANOTHER Gun Lock Today and.....

Did not even get it.

Went to Turner's to pick up a shotgun and a pistol.

Filled out the safe affadavit for the shotgun.

After all the excess Turner's paperwork, picked up the guns and walked out.

Felt like a moran for about 5 seconds after realizing I did not get it.
(Your Opinion May Vary)

Realized I had no need to go back considering how many locks I have.
They can keep the profit since I did not buy anything this trip to support places that perform PPTs.

Cool story bro.....?

Need more passion in that rant! Add some #@!! $ and some angry red-faced emojis.

Bah, you didn't need the lock anyhow. More clutter.

Oh yeah, cool starry bra.

Go and get your lock
They did that to me too and when I said I didn't get a lock, they thought I was trying to pull a fast one

Saying you're suppose to receive the lock when you do DROS

Typical turners

One for me and one for Turner's.

I was first in line and the clerk was great.
I should have paid more attention to what I am paying for.

~15 minutes for the pickup, not too bad.

At least both guns came home.

The lock is not so important (we all have boxes of them at home). But the dated sales receipt is really the critical item.

With that sales receipt and any old lock you have at home, a scanner and Photoshop can be your best friends to keep that sales receipt date "fresh" for your next PPT...

Excellent, I did the same thing twice, and when thinking about mentioning it on the next PPT to maybe get a free lock I figured it would simply point out a flaw or red flag on the transaction. When a transaction goes smoothly I just chalk it up as a $6.00 loss. I automatically assume $6.00 to every PPT now even long guns at some places just to alleviate fuss with the Safe Affidavit argument.

You will know something is terribly wrong when you have 26 gun locks but only 20 guns.

ha, i may or may not have used this trick in some PPTs of pistols.

imo, the lock that the pistol comes with is more than enough. it isn't like the lock "wore out" while sitting in the pistol box in the previous owner's safe or closet. and whats funny is that some places don't even care. i had a PPT where the shop asked the seller "is that the lock that came with the gun" seller said "yes" and FFL said "ok, that will count" and didn't make me buy a lock.

Years ago I bought a lock for gsg1911 to get out the door a big 7bucks. I got home and found ca approved lock in the gsg box. Went to get some tackle and took both locks and receipt and manager gave me 7 bucks credit on tackle and told me to keep both locks to much paperwork. Real nice guy. I found out he went up to work at Oaktree and passed away. I guess the good ones do die young.RIP PS I dod a dros at signal hill yesterday it was quick smooth and very professional. Seller and I spent a bunch on Tackle while there.

Or... buy the lock somewhere else (there's usually a Big 5 handy), show off the lock and your fresh receipt, then return the lock whence it came on your way home. Perfectly legal.

My new purchase from turners came with a lock. Last I checked, it is the law that a pistol is in a locked case when transported, but the sales person in my last two transactions at turners stores never asked if I wanted to use the lock.

Since I didn't see the box for the gun on the last one, I brought a soft sided case and a little combo lock. My truck doesn't have a trunk, so I placed the pistol in my container and was out the door.

I had no problem with turners service and all but two of my gunshop transactions were at turners. The other place was good but closed up and the other was Bass Pro. I won't buy another from bass pro. They make turners look great.

The laws in this state are so jacked up, I'm surprised the USA hasn't already kicked us out.

I recently purchased a cz75 new. During the paper work process the sales representative starts looking at the lock cz provides and looks over to a coworker and ask him about the lock in the case. Coworker says to him that's not a CA complaint lock. I am then told I could purchase one from them for 8 dollars or I would have to bring a sealed one with a receipt showing that I purchased it within the last 30 days. I couldn't believe this

So I asked again what's wrong with the lock in the case all my other locks look exactly the same. Again they said cz doesn't provide CA complaint locks. I ask why is that my last cz purchase had one. So they pointed out that it didn't have a number on it to record on the DOJ paperwork.

Has this happen to anyone. It's a first for me.

You know those bridges where couples place locks on them to show their love?

Now you know what to do with all of them.

Who here makes less then 5$ an hour?
1. The locks cost more than $5.
2. Nobody takes an hour to run in/out of a Big 5 a couple times for a single transaction.
3. Having been unemployed for almost two years, I most certainly make less than $5 an hour. (No I am not receiving any benefits.)
4. A small percentage of people can truthfully say that taking twenty minutes to retrieve ten or fifteen dollars isn't worth their time. I'm sure many do, just not truthfully.

$6.50 IIRC.

4.
You are very generous in the amount of time it takes at Turners!
If it was real money I'd think about it since it is close, but not for a dang lock.
It would cost me a couple bucks in gas for a separate trip.

I keep hoping to hear on the news that locks are appearing all over Sacramento.
In the most inconvenient places.

gun locks crack me up. Ive purchased handguns that came with locks and was forced to purchase an additional lock because the one it came with didn't meet California specifications.

What ticks me off is for PPTs, places like Turners and the Target Range in Van Nuys make you buy a lock even when the gun already has an internal lock!!
"No, the DOJ doesn't recognize that as a DOJ-approved lock." Excuse me??
Fine, whatever. Here's your stupid $6.50.

On the other hand, American Gun Works honored the internal gun lock when I sold the 9mm SA 1911.

I remember when I was unpacking after moving here from California, and all the mandatory safety locks I had. I must have had a whole box of the damn things, at 10 bucks a pop in top of the 35.00 DROS it really adds up in cost.

Don't know what to tell you other than the whole lock thing is beyond stupid. With respect to chain stores, customer service experiences varied greatly depending on who was behind the counter.

If the gun is on the roster and compliant how the f@#$ can the lock That comes with the gun be noncompliant??

I asked that their response was CZ doesn't provide CA complaint locks. Maybe they get a bonus for most locks sold.

I guess it all depends who's behind the counter. Just like triplestack mentioned.

I'll pay the 8 dollars one more lock my kids can play with at home. About the only use they get till they become annoyed with them.

don't even need paint, word document template. once you have it setup, just change the date each time you need it.

make sure to use a real online retailer that sells that lock though (preferably a hole in the wall place not a chain store.) just in case the FFL decides to check or the DOJ when doing inspection decides to check.

I picked up a handgun from ammo bros last year and was forced to purchase a gun lock even though the gun came with one. The guy next to me was picking up and was told he needed to purchase an additional lock because the one provided by the manufacturer wasn't compliant. I offered the guy the lock I purchased so he wouldn't get screwed out of his $9 and the guy behind the counter said I cant give him the lock. Wow! And the thing that gets me is they just put the lock, still in its package, in my gun case.

If they don't require the lock be on your firearm before you leave the store, sounds like a scam to me.

Gun locks requirements are scam to get more tax revenue. The lock come with all Cz guns are not compliance because there is no Brand and Model on it. Let just say my PDF editor has been utilize a lot, state won't get another dime from me.

I've bought 2 pistols through my FFL and left the lock there on purpose. Thrown out any others I ended up with at home.

Default So I Bought ANOTHER Gun Lock Today and.....

Left one Ca complaint right one non Ca complaint.

Went to pick up after my 10 day. I went ahead and purchased lock from ffl. But they had non in stock so they found one a customer left behind and sold it to me at full price.

I guess stores are hurting now that people ain't rushing to buy An AR15 or AK.
