Springfield XD 5” Tactical Compact! (Yes it’s on roster and yes Springfield has them available).

5” slide w/ short grip - 10 round magazine (not the 13/10 rounders).

If your a medium to large guy, throw on one size bigger T-shirt and pick your flavor of 45. I wear XL shirts but conceal very nicely with a 2X shirt. My 45 is a Glock 21. Positioned in the right spot very hard pressed for even trained eyes to spot. I tend to OC with a IWB holster for ease of choice to OC or CC

The one on the left/top. It's a 4" M&P 1.0 and approximately Glock 19 size. In the new M&P 2.0 line it's going to be the M&P 45 2.0 Compact.

I'm in the HK camp. I have a 45c that I carry occasionally but my edc is actually a P2000sk in .40 (smaller and lighter). Both pistols are light lem triggered. I also have a Colt Officers .45 that I carried for years, but not much anymore.

I had a H&K USP Compact on my permit, but my primary was a G30SF.

I guess us Glock fans don’t really care to pay for the new Sigs that are “rubber mallet” fired, vs. striker fired.

Even more surprising how many people are ignorant of the fact that Commander and Officer model .45's are not 1911's by definition.

Google barrel lengths and go from there.

Surprises me how few mentions the Kahr P45 or CW45 gets in a no Glock and no 1911 thread.

You'd think the Glock guys would like it because it's a polymer frame, no safety, no mag disconnect and low cost pistol.

I could see some 1911 guys not liking it because of trigger, but it does have a really nice DA trigger pull and can use some 1911 magazines.

Both are fine choices. I've carried the USP 45c, but now prefer the HK45c. The USP is on roster. The HK45c is a little harder to find at a reasonable price.

One more vote for the HK USP 45c, my goto for day carry. I can't tell the difference in weight between it and my Sig 239/357, which I take at nite with it's CT grips. I use the same holster for both.

Iíve started carrying my Sig P220 Combat in a Vedder Lighttuck. I have a lot of carry guns and most are smaller and lighter but this is my best shooting pistol and the Vedder combined with a Beltman belt makes carrying this pistol easier and more concealable than I would have ever believed.

Well, I've got an HK 45C and REALLY like it, but it's a little large for a true concealment pistol---when it has to be a 45 and reasonably small, my Kahr P45 gets the call---yeah, it barks and isn't really pleasant to shoot, but this ain't about nice---it's about big hole, smaller pistol and it does all that...!

I only have a P9 but the rule stated no Glock otherwise I would have picked the 30sf. By far my favorite Glock (in California why carry anything besides 45ACP?)

I've got a Springfield XDS-45 and it's become one of my faves. It's my only .45 CCW gun. Same size as my Walther PPS, and the lack of recoil for such a small .45 is impressive. It's also really accurate. I really like the sights too.

Kahr CW45. Fits hand well, and I think it can even use 1911 magazines.

How about a revolver? Charter Arms Pitbull .45 looks interesting. Would have great intimidation value. But I've never seen one, let alone handled one.

$380 here:

Looks cool, no moon clips needed. It also comes in .40 and 9mm.

It probably needs an action job as well. Charters are usually rough and gritty.

Because 10MM is way more fun and .40 gives you more velocity.

End Hi Jack

I have a Colt Lightweight Officer .45acp, quite a nice gun but I won't want it for conceal carry/self-defense. I use it mainly as a range toy because it is not 100% reliable like my Beretta Px4 Storm.

Don't get me wrong, is not unreliable, but let's say you'll get a failure to eject every hundred rounds or so. Which might not matter for a carry gun but it worries me a little.

I have changed the spring to a Wolff one and also change to new Wilson Combat magazine. It has helped in reliability and there are days I can shoot without a single failure. But it just creates that small doubt in me.

Just my 2 cents.

I've heard good things about S&W Shield, I'll say look into that first.
