Default Going for my CCW - San Diego

I have my first appointment on Wednesday 5th, at 10:00am. This is where they just ask questions as to way you need/want a CCW.

I also have a web site business (Home business) and some times get customers coming to my house. I know I can carry in my house. But I also make deposits to my bank.

I also have a retired sheriff helping me with the CCW.

I asked Michael_Js to give me call and he did, thanks for the information.

So I guess we'll see how this goes for me and keep you posted.

Ed

Good Luck, Top. Maybe after you get approved, you can do a write up on how to get started and your experiences.

I completed the first interview today. I talked with a female clerk. some of the questions asked were.

1. Why do you need a CCW?
I replied that I have a business, make large deposits and withdraws.

2. How much money do you deposit per week.
I said its always different, but about $500 to $2900. I had $2900 on me and show it to her.

3. Do you have any employees.
I don't.

4. Have you had any situations that would cause you to have a CCW.
I haven't, but I said that when I go to the bank people are looking at me making the deposits and withdraws.

5. Do you make the deposits in the bank or at a ATM.
I said both.

6. Is there anything that would let people know your carry money to or from the bank.
I said no, I don't have signs on my car. But customers do come to my home and pay cash and know I will be depositing money into my account.

7. Have you been or currently in a law suit.
I said no.

8. She ask if I ever applied for a CCW any where.
I said yes, I have one for Utah and Arizona.

9. Asked me what my job was.
I said owner of my business.

10. Ask for a business card
Gave her one.

11. Asked if the city I live in requires a business permit.
I said yes (Chula Vista) and I have that.

12. Asked how many hours I work a week and monthly.
I just gave the normal hours 40 per week and 160 per month.

If I think of any more I'll post it. After the clerk was done, she talked to another person. When she came back she gave the paper work to collect what I needed for the 2nd interview.
You'll need your DD-214 for retired military, business permit, income tax statement.

So now I have to collect my information and call the clerk back to schedule the 2nd interview.

Whoa! I obtained my permit in Napa County and from the sounds of it had to go through far less.

I'm glad it's going well! Good luck!

My self, I retired from the Air Force (1997) after 21yrs at the rank of MSgt/E7. I have my retirement and my VA disability (60%).
I started SD Mustang Accessories about 4 years ago. I almost shut it down 5 days ago, in fact I have to load items back on my web site.

I use to work for Time Warner Cable (12 yrs) as a supervisor in the installation/service depart; I got laid off in 2012. Best thing that happen to me. I was given money and I get a retirement from them too, but can't collect that till I'm at least 59 1/2yrs old. Since being laid off, I retired and do my web site business. The wife is still working.

I'm just a small home business, and I'm the only employee/owner. As far as security, that's why I want a CCW. Ha ha

With that kind of resume, I'd be in shock they wouldn't grant you a CCW. Good luck with phase 2 and keep us informed.

getting a ccw in san diego is VERY difficult and usually the only ones that get one are retired LEOs, judges/prosecutors, elected officials and business people that deal with LOTS of money.

wish you the best of luck though

Hate to be a buzz kill, but Gore will not issue you a permit, period. He is as anti-2A as it gets.

a friend of mine has one that was issued in SD county, but he's retired LEO. He's allowed to carry up to 3 different guns on his CCW.

Just read his bio.. This guy sounds like a real hard ***... I always thought SD would be more gun friendly... Politically speaking that is. Guess not

#2 Is the only thing you have going for you...the questions asked are an attempt to disqualify you at 'stage 1'

Focus on the cash, get your bank statements in order because they will probably ask for them in stage 2...when it gets interesting.

No PROBABILITIES about it! Without the documentation, just through your $100+ in the street.

They, SD County, hide behind that fact - that the penal code indicates you can get a CCW for personal protection, if and only if - you meet their rules!

I'm hoping the best for you!!

As for me - I'm picking up my new Carry gun this Friday, ordered an IWB holster, and will practice until I move later this year, to a freer state where U can get a carry permit (even though I feel we shouldn't need one, the permit that is) just because I want to protect myself...

Again, best of success!
