Turners, like all companies has good and bad-

Do they want employees- I don't know?

Are they one of the top NRA recruiters in the country- Yes

Do the employees get paid the $10 per membership sold the same as any recruiter- absolutely.

Do they pay lower wages? Probably in line with all gun shops in the area.

Some of the most knowledgeable employees are the part time gun nuts who work there for fun and employee discounts.

Competition in an area always seems to be good for the customer.

Bought a lot of guns, ammo, and fishing supplies from Turner's.
Good quality, fair price and excellent service.

Under that same assumption (of everyone is a thief) they shouldn't let anyone handle the weapons including customers or they should search the customers before they leave. A customer could easily ask to see a gun and run out of the store with it since Turners also required all their employees to be unarmed even if they have a CCW permit. They take a count of firearms at the end of each day and everyone is monitored 24/7 on CCTV, not to mention being watched by 10+ employees and even more customers. The reason they gave for illegally searching people was because of "missing knives," not guns. They also FAIL to bring this up in the interview process and wait until after a person is already started the first day of work. These searches also take place outside of lawful work hours aka on the employees own time and dime. If the searches were done while the employee was on the clock it would be a different story. Overall, I wouldn't call them a business that upholds American values. If you like unconstitutional searches please move back to North Korea, thanks.
So what... are you going to do something about it?

I personally don't like shopping at Turner's all that much myself but everything you've described is their business and part of their standard policies. They can do what they see fit to protect their best interests. Many of these "unconstitutional" things get thrown out the window in a place of employment. Go ahead and try to cite the 1st amendment rights at work to voice your opinion. Tell us what happens.

Hi,
I was in the KM store last week buying a 10/22 for $199.00 and they were training 3-4 people. The guy who helped me said they are planning on opening midmonth in July although he was doubtful. Probly more like end of July. He said they hadn't seen any .22 ammo in weeks, he thought they were holding it back so they could have a big stock on hand to draw people in to the grand opening.

It's a shame that is in El Cajon City..... Santee would have been great. Or anywhere in East County but El Cajon or La Mesa.
I have my reasons.... for not shopping in El Cajon City.... Too bad for Turner's.

The suck part of being the city of El Cajon is the extra city sales tax you pay in the city.

Yeah, but if it's a large transaction you can tell them that you don't live in the City of El Cajon and reduce the tax to what ever it is where you live. Happens all the time.

works for auto sales only I think, if you live in San Diego or whereever your primary residence, the auto dealer is required only to collect the tax rate in your city of residence. however for other purchases you have to pay the extra .5-1.5% extra sales tax on your purchase items.

Ummmm....no. If you're doing a large transaction, say for appliances, and you do not live in El Cajon, you do not pay El Cajon taxes.

How much qualifies as a 'large transaction'?

What's a washer cost....$400 or so? I have bought a few hundred dollar items from Sears at PP and not had to pay the EC tax is all I'm saying. YMMV, depends on if you're vocal about it I suppose.

I saw the Turner's booth but didn't stop by. If that EC grand opening is anything like the one in Temecula, bring a lawn chair, pack a lunch, and get in line early.

Scanned the flyer. Just noticed that for the July 18th stuff, you need the actual flyer.

Alright!!! Can't say I'll be waiting outside for any of those deals, but I am definitely looking forward to a couple of purchases without having to leave East County.

Living in Lakeside means good news to me. I have been very happy with three rifle purchases and 1 PPT. Things just got a little more convenient.....and if El Cajon gun exchange does not change their business model and customer service, it is of my opinion that they will feel the competition come August 1

Just out of curiosity, what's the main attraction with Turner's? I've been to the KM store a few times but the prices seemed high and customer service wasn't stellar. I can understand Cabela's or Bass Pro and the draw associated with both. I just don't see it with Turner's yet.

It's cause we don't have a Cabela's or Bass Pro in San Diego.

I bought 3 Marlin Model 60's for my boys and for me at a cost of $149. Most other LGS did not have one in stock, and when they did it was usually $30 to $50 more. They usually have a gem or two in their weekly flyers or special event sales too. They may not always be cheaper, but they can move inventory to different stores and usually get what I want.

Went in around 1pm and there was still plenty of sale ammo around. No crowds. Nice clean store and seems to have more room than the one in Kearny Mesa.

I drove by at about 9am this morning and saw about 10-14 people in line... (seemed like more people waiting to drop off their kids at the daycare place, a couple of doors down) wondering if any 22lr was on sale? I went in after work to pick up some 223 and 9mm but saw no 22lr.

I was there at 11am yesterday, and yes they had CCI Mini-Mags in 22lr. There was a limit of 1 though. I got my one box.

The store is pretty awesome. It's layed out very similarly to the Kearny Store but with more room.

And, the best news is that Gil (don't remember his last name) is the store manager. I think we got one of the best guys from Kearny.

BPS is nor likely, they have a store in Ontario. Seems a little close for how they place their stores.
I'd love to see both BPS and Cabela's here as I shot, hunt and fish.

I stopped in turners El Cajon yesterday it definitely looks like more Sqft than KM
The staff seemed pretty friendly and the folks at the gun counter appeared relaxed. Way more staff than patrons.

Stopped by the new Turners today. Tons of sale ammo left, all of which is on a pallet towards the middle of the store. No 22LR. There were only a few other people inside, everyone was on the firearms side of the store.

I stopped in on Sunday Afternoon. The Atmosphere seemed more relaxed than in KM. It wasn't real busy and the guys at the Gun Counter were very eager to help. Thumbs up from this visit

I stopped in this afternoon. Staff were friendly and store looked nice.

Funny, it looked like they were training some staff because I overheard one staff member explain to another about piston versus gas. Kept going on and on about how pistons are superior.

Sadly, Turners, like every other lgs in San Diego has pretty much all the same stuff. Handguns that is, it's all they can sell because of the roster. But nice selection of rifles.

I had the luxury of being in a Cabela's in Louisiana back in April...man, loved it. Hope we get there one day.

I live in glorious El Cajon in an even worse part of town than Turner's.
I'll keep an eye on the sales fliers for any deals on accessories. Kind of hard to beat the interwebs these days.

As you folks swing through El Cajon on your way to Turner's, please be sure to stop by and say hello to us. We're the "other" new gun store out here, just down Main Street at Mollison Ave (right by Greek Style Chicken). We'd be happy to meet you!
