Default Favorite aftermarket Ruger 10/22 stock conversion kits?

Hi folks - cruised through about a year's worth of thread titles, didn't see anything stretching back to 2018 that covered this, so figured I'd post anew and ask.

What are your favorite aftermarket Ruger 10/22 stock conversion kits? Not interested in precision, that's not the goal at this point... just the "cool" factor and upgrading the looks of the standard Ruger 10/22. I've seen the P90 bull pup kits, AR-like kits, AK-like kits, the MG42 kit, HK MP5 lookalike kit, G36 lookalike kit, etc. Trying to decide what to get.

So - what do you have that you like? Pics?

I put my Kidd barreled action into Buckskin Brown Keystone Revolution Extreme stock. Nothing radical, just very nice and comfortable, off hand or off the bench. They go for under $200

I have one of mine in a Boyd stock. Itís nice but I probably wonít get a right (or left) handed stock anymore. Itís a PITA to teach left handed shooters with. If I were in the market right now Iíd get one of them P90 stocks.

My buddy had the Maurauder kit ( G36), and it had alot of issues. Not to sure what was wrong with it, but it had alot of ftfs and magazine seating problems.

I had the Arch angel 556 (ar15h kit. The kit had no issues but it was a pain to take down.

All those kits you mentioned are shells that cover your reciever strictley for cosmetics.

Right now I have a Arch angel stock and couldnt be happier.7E6C7A16-F0B5-4895-8A4B-A3C954455D1D.jpg

I dont have my 10/22 or 10/22 takedown any more but these are the stocks I tried. P90 was fun but with a bull barrel and scope ot was very heavy.

Might get another one one day. Could never get them to run reliably.

Did not know a M42 version existed. Now that would be sweet.
I am looking to upgrade to a M1 Stock. There seems to be a factory version.

Some nice options here. Thinking about another 10/22 to setup in a fun way. I have a TD with the backpacker stock which is functional and has a purpose but I think I want something more traditional as well.

Thanks guys for the feedback. As of right now, to me, the P90 one looks the most interesting, but I was curious what else people did with their Ruger 10/22's. Still open to more suggestions!

I put a 10/22 into the magpul hunter x-22 mainly because it can be adjusted for the grandkids.

This kit from gungnerinc is awesome. It uses standard AR parts and is only $50.

My son has a magpul stock on his. Pretty heavy right now and he’s gunna put a bull barrel on it. Mine is bone stock with a gsg drum on it and feels lighter than his. That PPSH kit looks pretty good. I like them light.

Default Muh 'pups

First up is a Badger stock - old guy out of Iowa makes 'em (designed around hunting squirrels and other small game), I found it on ebay, looks strange, but the ergonomics work well. Fairly easy to disassemble to clean/etc. Stock or custom Ruger style action just drops in. Feels more like shooting a pistol than a rifle!

Very light, doesn't look like anything else I've seen, so always gets "looks" at the range. We have a couple configurations, this one in ultralight 16" CF bull barrel, small sound forwarder muzzle thingy (seems to reduce volume for the shooter and people alongside), red/green dot sight on a custom receiver, laser and flashlight on forward rails. Takes any stock mags, or a tri-mag setup if you want to burn through lots of ammo!

Second, more along the lines of that HTA (P90) is a ZK-22. Heavier, has to have an 18.5" barrel to not become a SBR (OAL<26"). A pain to take apart, but has a good feel overall. I added a mod to allow the bolt hold open to work, debating some way to access the cross bolt safety... Stock mags sorta work, but banana type are preferable. Sight mount axis is fairly high compared to bore axis, so I'm still working on how to best set up/adjust for accuracy. Again, gets the "looks" at the range, my son prefers this over the Badger, while I like the Badger.

I have a couple more traditional stocked 10/22's, and at one time had a Pro Mag PM272 with a folding stock that I liked before I went to the bullpups.

The 10/22 platform has so many options (and you can sometimes pick up some goodies off ebay, to save a buck here and there!), you can fiddle around a bit until you find what fits for you. Just buy lots of .22LR ammo, read up (or watch some You Tube) a bit on the tips and tricks, and have fun!

I have one with a Blackhawk Knoxx Axiom stock https://www.midwayusa.com/product/21...0-22-synthetic. Light, adjustable, takes AR carbine stocks. Main issue with it is the forestock flexes. I fixed it by inlaying a thin aluminum channel inside, and installing a rail under it.

Not for everyone, but have had it for years, and am very happy with it.

Here it is in a very old picture, before modification. The rifle has a kidd light weight barrel, and now wears a different scope and a pistol light on the rail. It is our go-to critter protector.

Oh wow, you're right... what he did with those parts kits is simply amazing. All custom it seems, so nothing's for sale, but really good workmanship there.
