Default Apparently not all gun people are Honest !

Something happened to me today that I had not had happen to me in the World of Guns. I had thought that pretty much everybody in our world was honest, apparently I was wrong.

I had a guy who bought one of my Hand Presses go to Paypal and demand a refund due to "product not being as advertised" and did not even have the courtesy to contact me, or more to the point SEND THE TOOL BACK !!!

He answered the phone the first time I called him and put me on hold and then blocked my number.

Paypal sided with him because we didn't respond fast enough. So he got a free one. This cost me $277.00 !!!

The guys name is Robert Darpinian and he is from Lancaster CA and claims to be a Long Distance Shooter.

I would ask that anyone who has dealings with this person kick this POS in the Nutz for me.

I will buy you lunch !!!

Randy

I dont care what your issue is, but outing somebody and 'threatening' is not gonna gain you customers. Think of this as $270 worth of advertizing, GOOD or BAD.

He didn't threaten anyone. He asked if someone could kick him in the nuts. and deservingly so. It's not like he said "I'm driving down to his house and whack the SOB"

Although I would drive to his house withe the local police in tow to claim my property. bring all paper work with and copies of the emails and file a complaint.

What hand presses do you make?
And letting us know about a thief is a good thing in my books.

Outing a bad actor IS the right thing to do. If they can remain anonymous, they're going to victimize someone else.

I can understand wanting to whack this fellow in the nutz, but this is one of those times when it's best to stick to the facts.

Did you see his you tube page on reloading ?
Did you try calling him from a different phone , blocked yours but not a payphone( remember those ?)

And ever thought about "returning " ( you do have his address) the favor ?
And don't use paypal for any firearm related stuff , if there is a problem , you'll always lose ( they are not gun friendly)

PP=dancing with the devil. I got burned as a buyer. Cheapskate lied about the shipping weight Not being as well read on PP as I thought.... I later found out the hard way don't pay the unpaid postage. PP could careless about the shipping misrepresentation. Which I'm sure encourages it.

Ive had this happen twice to me before. Ebay is all on the side of the buyer. I told them im not some big company, i cant take loses like this.

1 time a guy said he didnt get the package, someone did paypal actually gave us both our $ back, i was selling more then.

2nd time a reloading scale, guy said it didnt work, thats bs. Ebay gave him back his $, i had to pay for his return shipping then resale it.

Always make sure you have insurance and tracking, if they claim its damaged get it back and make a post office claim. They destroy tons of products daily.

I believe his comment was intended to be taken figuratively not literally. If someone in the firearm community abuses another, I want to know about it and the details. It may save me from making the mistake of dealing with that person.

OP, I think you were shafted by PayPal. You sold a firearm related item, and this is their revenge. Eventually, someone is going to create a similar service and provide service to the firearms community, I just hope it is sooner than later.

There's nothing wrong with outing someone who obviously is a scammer to keep everyone informed, but I don't think OP literally was threatening.

Thanks for the heads up, Capt.Dunsel. Sorry this happened to you and I won't feel a damn bit sorry when karma strikes this guy in the *****.

Wouldn't this incident be considered fraud that can be handled by local PD?

PD doesn't care about 300 dollars.

Only retribution is from peers at precision shooting if he plays that game.

If I did and saw him at a match, I'd sure as heck say something. W. R . is good people. Shouldn't happen in our community.

No need for phone and address. This isn't a lynch party. But if he is really a long range shooter, and not a dink living in his mom's basement, he will have gun peers, and likely on this board. They can talk to him and bring him around.

I still hope for what is right.

No, they are not. I bought a motorcycle engine for $200. It was delivered to some unknown address 50 miles away. eBay and Paypal said it was delivered and wouldn't refund my money. They told me to go pick it up. I had no way to get it.

Thanks for the support guys I appreciate it.

By outing this guy I was hoping someone in CA would run into him at a shoot and plumb him up as to how gun people are supposed to act.

I called the Lancaster PD and they said for $300 they wouldn't even drive by his house, and I didn't figure they would in the first place. But it was good to vent anyway.

So keep your eyes open and if this turd surfaces call him out and if he wants to shoot his .338 Lupua at a Shoot like Coaling A coming up, maybe he can be barred at the door for bad conduct.

Once again I appreciate your support, and if you do kick him in the Nutz I will buy you Lunch for sure! I will require proof of contact between boot and ballz, like maybe a video on your phone :>)

As far as my tool goes you can see it at www.buchananprecisionmachine.com and on Youtube under Buchanan Precision Machine Hand Press. It is the best one ever made,,, bar none.

Thanks Randy

I don't subscribe to channels of people such as his .

Oh yeah youtube took his channel down because it is , or was gun related.

Sorry that this happened to you. Many of us think that enthusiasts with a common interest are more trustable than the average person. But the facts are that every individual is only as trustable as he is. Regardless I trust most people until proven untrustable and I encourage you to not let this experience foul your trust.

It's unfortunate that PayPal took his side, it seems to happen both ways without logic, buyers and sellers both get burned. I've been burned a few times. I got burned on a tool I sold to a Chevrolet dealer, a $1300 tool and I'm not a distributor or a rich guy that can absorb stuff like that without damage.

Those who think this thief shouldn't be outed are people I'd be weary of.

I have had the same thing happen to me once on gun broker when someone took me for $150 dollars for a rifle. I could afford to lose it but what irritated me was the cops in his town would not even take a report on the fraud. This guy probably took a number of people and the site would not respond. First time in forty plus years of collecting guns I have had it happen to me but even old timers like me get conned. Live and learn unfortunately and these con artists know exactly how to manipulate the system.

Definitely need to keep this at the top. We are already such a small community. We should never treat fellow california gunners like this.

Good for calling him out and if I came by him at an event I would ensure every single person at the event was aware of how much a douche the guy is. Sometimes public humiliation is the best cure for stupidity

Seems like the complaint should be about PayPal. A refund without a return or agreement is not legitimate.

So if I head over there and kick him in the nuts, you will buy me lunch? Do you need photo or video proof? Edit your post before you or someone else gets arrested.
