Official Glass Factory Range Cleanup; Saturday 03/07/2015
Hey guys,
I thought we could use a new thread for the upcoming cleanup. We are rounding up volunteers for Saturday March 7, 2015. We need to get a list together of everyone that is willing to help out up there. Once we get "enough" volunteers we can notify Marborg about time and date and get this ball rolling. We are also in talks with the Forestry Service about getting the Painted Cave Fire Department out there again with their tractor. As you all know this is a huge help for us not only due to the tractor but the man power they bring as well. As always any rakes, shovels, gloves, or anything else you can think of to pick up trash is needed. We can setup a BBQ out there as well again and cook some hotdogs for everyone. I heard rumors that there might be a raffle for all the participants to enter as well ! Let's get this thing going! I would like to help cleanup. Might be +1 or 2. I live in a condo with no yard so I don't have any rakes, shovels, etc but I'm happy to do whatever else I can help with.
I've never been here, but from the pictures it looks like there might be limited parking? |

Limited parking in the lot for sure but there is plenty of parking along the road. We've had 90+ people out there for a cleanup with no issues that I'm aware of. Carpooling helps out a lot with this though. I along with plenty of others will bring extra rakes and shovels plus anything else we might need for those that don't have them. Gloves is a biggie though. If you have some work gloves they should be brought. |

The GF parking area is deeply rutted. I drove my little Corolla the past few trips and it definitely bottoms out. We will have the gate closed anyway that day as we need room for the dumpster, popups, etc. and we need to clean up the parking area, the same as the rest of the range. Difficult to clean under cars.

Also make sure to come up via 154 and camino Cielo if you have a low car. There are steep switchbacks on gibraltar, old San Marcos and painted cave that are all scraped up from cars bottoming out.

They haven't yet confirmed if the FD is going to be there with their tractor. The other issue we have is that we aren't supposed to move any dirt around. We would need all kinds of "oligists" up there to determine that there aren't any pink bellied skinks or some indian artifact up there.

The Rangers have reinforced that we can only pick up trash, we really can't scrape dirt or move rocks, etc.
