Maybe the a-holes at eBay are reading this Calguns thread and are sitting back and laughing watching us squirm for a discount code?

I suppose I could understand why they might cut off or disrupt the supply of coupons. The point of a coupon is to stimulate sales that you would not get otherwise however if sales that you would normally get start to wait until a couponis released you are having the opposite effect

I suspect once the new online tax law kicks in I'll do about 50%-75% less of my purchasing on Ebay. I mainly bought there for free shipping and no tax.

When is this happening?

I compare prices on an item between Amazon, Walmart.com, and ebay. I pay taxes at the first 2 already. But even with 0 tax (in most cases), ebay is not always the cheapest.

4-1-19. All websites have to start collecting sales tax from this point further. Unless you live in a state without a state income tax. That means Ebay and every other out of state vendors we have been using to skirt taxes.

OK, Ebay needs to come out with an official statement of whether or not they will do any more good sales/promos. There are some things that I want to buy, and I haven't done so since I don't want to buy the stuff, and then see a sale the next day!

That's how it always ends up... You give up on waiting for a sale and pull the trigger on a purchase.... Then WHAM! The next day there's a 20% off coupon -___-

Remember, when there's more than one seller selling the item you want, check them all out. Some are not charging sales tax. It doesn't appear that it's up to eBay. I just bought an Atlas bipod. Two sellers were charging me sales tax, two weren't.

It is up to individual sellers.

eBay is collecting sales tax for sales to Minnesota, Washington, Iowa, etc (see full list here):
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fe...=4121#section4

For sales to California, it's up to individual sellers. The state demands it, but eBay -- as a corporation -- is not mandating it.

I don't know why.

an out-of-state seller must register with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) and collect and remit California sales and use tax if its total combined sales of tangible personal property for delivery in the state exceed $500,000 in the preceding or current calendar year. The 200 transactions threshold is eliminated. In addition, as of October 1, 2019, marketplace facilitators must collect and remit sales tax on all sales made through the marketplace in California. I just don't know why eBay is being so lax about it and leaving it up to the individual sellers, whereas with other states, eBay is taking charge of the tax collection and giving sellers no choice in the matter.

Watch my luck if I buy now and a code comes out tomorrow LOL.

There are actually a lot more states not listed that are supposed to collect tax. Maybe eBay just doesn't like those states.. LOL
