IIRC, the green gong was 230yds, the brown/rusty gong was 275yds right near the entrance to the cave. Felt like we were hunting Bin Laden. That box canyon was perfect for shooting steel, there was no BS'ing whether or not you hit the target. "Crack! Doing!" Or in the case of the .510, "KABOOOM! Doing!"

That canyon is a great place to shoot . I thought it would be longer in the range of distance we could place targets though . I was hoping for about 500yds when i made those . That Ben laden saying gives me an idea i think I'll try to find a poster to glue to the front of one steel plates for next time .

Is that to the actual shooting spot in panoche or just the front gate?

If you set up where we did at the last shoot you can get 500 easy. If you took the right angle through the canyon, I would bet 800, maybe more. Thats a long walk down that canyon, I made it a couple of times.

That's to the top of the hill.

I wouldn't advise setting up at the Zombie shoot site. Sorry mike, It is against law to shoot towards or over a road, as per Fish & Game Regs. We fked up bigtime on the Z shoot. Just got lucky a ranger didn't stop by to say hello and issue us all citations. Lets be more careful next time. Citations and added fees are very costly. And make CG'ers look really bad.

WHAT??? The front gate is at Little Panoche road. It takes you 30 min, to drive 4 miles to the top? OMG! 15 Mph is 4 miles a miniute. If it takes you 30 min to drive 4 miles, You may as well walk. Seriously!
I've timed it many times from SJ. at least once a month over the past 3 years. It takes me 2.5 hours when I stop for breakfast to get to Panoche. 2 Hrs if I don't. I hate when people exaggerate.....

The State is sucking us dry because of their FKUPS. It's pretty simple. What do you expect when a bunch of idiots elect a politician because they like his movies....

When I moved to Ca, I was advanced a grade because schools in the east were so far ahead in education. Now they want to lay off teachers. This state is gone..... We are raising a generation of dummys. Because of the dummys already raised here. Sucks.

Our legislators are a good example....I'm not the best bottle on the rack, But I know BS when I see it.

You offering the trailer to others? If so I am down, I will pay. Never been much of a tent person sleeping on the ground on a sleeping bag Just kidding, I have seen plenty of 20"+ trailers out there at Panoche. No big dip like Tumey Hills to get across, but I think Tumey has a different gate where there is no huge dip.

Now that would be a party, trailer with power, possibly a projector screen and a bonfire with an assortment of drinks hanging out having a blast.

OK. Sorry... I misunderstood. I don't go I-5. I go the back way through Hollister to get to Panoche. The senery is MUCH nicer and if you see another car for the last 50 miles, Your lucky.
It still takes over 30 min after you pass Little Panoche Rd on I-5 to get to Tumey. Tumey is 25 miles further and 20 min longer than Panoche from SJ. If you take Hecker Pass from 101. I've clocked them both.
Maybe I drive too slow....
