Hey..
I'm interested in owning a M4 Carbine. I'm in the Californai Army National Guard and need to practice shooting once in awhile. Where do I start looking? I like some of them I seen in this thread, but I don't know where to start on this. Can someone help me out?

You need to read the AR FAQ first. Then get a lower and look at all the options listed above...have fun.

OK guys, here's my latest build. I apologize for the crappy quality of the pics, I'll get some better ones up later.

STAG-15 5.56mm lower
Armalite A2 upper
Armalite standard LPK
Mil Surplus A2 Buttstock
ARMS #39A
EOTech 552
Sporting Conversions Kit (that guy must be LOADED by now heh )!
I like it because I can pop off the ARMS #39A and have that classic A2 look and feel when I don't feel like using optics.

thats an extremely BLACK rifle. You have photoshop, or any other photo-editing software? Not trying to rip on the photo, i would just like to get a better look at your build.

It was taken at my house with my video camera. I'm bringing my work camera home tonight so I'll have some better photos to put up there.

I hope this link works, i have not had good luck with posting pictures.

I thought I had a dozen 30-rd magazines, but could only find six of them. Anyway, thanks to Ten Percent Firearms for the upper.

You need to hit up Bushmaster for an Izzy Muzzlebreak for that thing. Awesome detachable mag build man! I'm gonna have to try running my A2 rifle as a detachable mag build sometime.

You can find those at Del-Ton... they're cool. They look like A2 flash hiders but they're really just muzzle breaks.

He does need to get that killer upper onto an off-list lower though where it belongs.

It could be a A2 Flash hider look-a-like muzzle break.

No it is not a F.Hider. It is a A2 style muzzle brake only. If you look at the first pic sittin on the bipod u can see that the muzzle opening on the brake is closed.

Not if you are going to play "Finders Keepers".
I think I lost the other magazines when I moved to Fremont in 1998. If I can't find the rest of my 30-rds, I'll be pretty sad. As for a muzzle brake, I reall didn't want one, just a nut to protect the threads. In regards to the safety detent spring bracket, I made it from scrap sheet metal I found lying around at work and bent it with a hammer and vise. Then I drilled a mounting hole and shaped it with a file. Not too hard to do, but you do have to cut down the safety detent spring to a shorter length.

If you use CLP on the stock, it turns out really nice.

Why would you want a stock covered with lubricant? You'll end up with it all over your face after a day at the range.

He doesn't mean to spray or submerge the stock in lubricant. He just means to grab a rag and apply a very light coat of CLP to give the stock a better and more uniform finish.

I agree!

I'm gonna order another shorty CQB kit and get the A2 stock in that kit and swap them. I don't really like the way this looks with the 20" barrel and the collapsable stock.

Thanks for the feedback.

Default Good idea!

WHOO HOO !

I am totally stoked! I met a guy at the range today who hooked me up with this scope. I'm not really a iron sights kinda guy so this was a VERY good first shoot! I'll try the scope out tomorrow.

Here's the first 20 shots (like I said, I'm not an open sights kinda guy) I don't think it's too bad. That includes adjusting it in. (I ran out of ammo)

This is with open sights
