Ruger Snubby!
Ruger Speed Six .38 Special
I don't always carry a snubby, but when I do...I prefer Ruger. Stay frosty my friends. --1911ShooterPhil

And another Smith snubby.
Been looking for one of these for a while - ever since Wifey decided she'd prefer the M60 as her HDG. I like the idea of the mostly shrouded hammer so I can still fire it in single action. Bruce S&W Model 649

Got one myself...just got back from the range with it. It's my carry piece (when I can legally carry). Hand cannon, indeed. I love this gun!

I currently don't have a snub, but I'm in the market for one of these.

This gun is just immaculate.

This is the only gun I've ever regretted selling. I purchased it to carry as a back up only to find my Department wouldn't allow it, so I went with something else.
Not sure I'll ever purchase another, but sure would love too if I had the "extra" money. She's a beauty! |

S&W 296 (with 342 for size comparison)
Haven't seen these in this thread yet:
$459.00 NIB, sent in from out of state when still on roster (Feb. 2006): This needs oversized Pachmyer grips to dampen the pain of recoil caused by the exposed metal backstrap when shooting with factory grips, esp. with 165 gr. CorBons. These "flying ashtray" rounds are Gold Dot 200 gr. For those of you too young to get the cultural reference . . . Once upon a time, almost everyone smoked cigarettes. There was an enormous ashtray on almost every coffee table in every living room or family room in the U.S. Back when average people could afford to buy a decent little 3 or 4 bedroom house. Everyone's parents kept a giant glass or ceramic ashtray that weighed about ten pounds and was slightly smaller than an old-fashioned, metal traschcan lid. Back when most kids still had a matching set of male/female parents married prior to the conception of the firstborn of the brood--not shaming or blaming the kids here, just sayin'. Duck if you ever see one of these wizzing toward your brain box. Damn, I'm gettin' old. All these little and not so little things have changed so swiftly. Anyway, you get hit with a flying ashtray--real or ballistic--and you will know it. As you can see, the finish is not durable on these titanium/scandium jobs, if that sort of thing matters to you (it doesn't to me, at least with these models).

The Noisy Cricket
As my academy range instructor said, "If you don't kill 'im with it, you'll set 'im on fire." The Smith & Wesson 340PD is definitely limited to six cylinders of .357 Magnum (that's 30 rounds for you pistol types), and then it's quitting time or time to break for some first aid. It's the best revolver to qualify with, BTW; everyone watching is not only singed but afraid to shoot it afterwards.

Oxymoronic but Fun: Snubby .44 Mag!
This revolver is absolutely fantastic when loaded with .44 Specials. I don't recommend wood grips when shooting .44 Magnums out of this pit viper.

I love my ruger snubbies!!!!! LCR 357 mag w/ crimson trace and xs big dot night sights: has probably one of the sweetest triggers straight out of the box. It is a sweet shooter with 38 spec, but is a bear to shoot 357 out of it especially with the crimson trace grips. Not to bad with the stock hogue monogrips (not pictured). Hate to say this, but everyone that has shot the LCR have become instant fans of the snubbie. The trigger is that good. Alaskan 44 magnum: 44 spec is easy to shoot, and 44 magnum isn't to bad either, mainly due to the weight of this snubbie. Came with hogue monogrips but I changed them out to GP100 short grips mainly for aesthetic reasons. To be honest, OEM trigger was heavy and gritty........ put in a wilson combat hammer spring and trigger spring, and all is dandy. Last edited by mrblah; 11-20-2012 at 1:24 AM.. |

Bought her in 1994. .357
Glass bead blasted and polished bits and prices. Found a bobbed hammer, polished trigger job and light weight spring kit. The action is nice and smooth then dressed her in some Badger grips. One of my favorites. Last edited by 12GAUGE; 12-05-2012 at 1:41 PM.. |
