Thumbs up New range coming to Poway?

Council to consider permit for shooting range, gun shop

I hear tell it may be Poway Weapons and Gear expanding.

"The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the City Council Chambers, 13325 Civic Center Drive." I assume they mean this coming Tuesday, the 19th.

That would be pretty amazing if this happened. ASC isn't too far but Poway is right around the corner for me.

I'd check it out for sure. I'm centrally located so a range in Poway would be acceptable, and also give me a chance to check out the Wal*Mart over there for 'ammo, from time to time...

Last time I was in Poway W&G, the guy said they want to build an indoor range somewhere in the vicinity of the Poway Costco. He said it was about 18 months out. This was about 3-4 months a ago (sometime back before the great "panic") . He mentioned 25/50/100 yard stations. Hope it comes true. I don't trust any politicians to do the right thing any more.

BTW, I had a pleasant buying experience with them. I was interested in a Mossberg 930 SPX, they had one in stock and their regular price was $20 less than Turners sale price.
Paperwork was taken care of fast and efficiently.

It is a new business, not an expansion of an existing one. I'm mildly informed on the details of it if folks have questions. Their plan would be to open this summer.

The design of it is to be a family oriented place that will teach and cater to safe home defense. I think the plan is to take .308 rounds at 25 meters.

I've been in the shop a number of times and heard discussion of this. My understanding is that they are very confident it will be approved. It was suggested to me by staff at the shop that construction is underway. I am encouraged to see this development and will support the business by taking my family there. Good luck to PWG!

The range being considered next week by the city is not affiliated with PWG.

Great news! It is about time. This would be a 5 min drive for me, on the way to Costco and HD.

Only 17 lanes.....I see a waiting list about as long as the ones at ASC. Hope they have a plan for expansion-in this area they are going to do a "land office" amount of business.....

It's all good....

Saw that this got approved. Exciting stuff! It'll be even closer than ASC and lots closer than EFGA.

The company name is Poway Range Partners LLC. I'm not sure what the range name will be.

I was at the shop when they did the new piece. I turned down the interview though. talked to the owner and they were looking at spring I believe of 2014 so a year out still. but he did say there would be 100 yard lanes. and no cease fire every hour like p2k. he did say they will be charging by the hour. I'm hoping since its close by and having 100 yard lanes is a plus that maybe they'll have deals on opening memberships and would be nice if they have "lifetime" memberships for a nice deal.

Sure would be nice to be able to shoot milsurp out of my Mosins without driving all the way to P2K.
