Default Bay Area FFL Recommendations

Can anyone recommend an FFL around the Bay Area? I'm willing to travel a bit for a good one. Prefferably one that is ok with receiving an internet purchase, and is ok with dealing with newbies. This will be my first go round with needing an FFL. Thanks in advance

Brian

I had a good experience with Peninsula Guns in San Bruno. I bought a handgun off GunBroker no problem, fee is $75 for handgun, $100 for long gun.

Smile Jackson arms

http://www.jacksonarms.com/

I've used jackson arms for several PPT transfers, they are friendly and a pleasure to do business with.

Not anymore, spoke to Kevin the other day, $50.00 plus DROS; if I'm wrong tell me otherwise and I'll call him back. He does seem like a real nice guy over the phone.

DROS is $25. Are you telling me he charges only $10 for his service?? If so, that's a darn good deal...

Bought 2 lowers from Placer Tactical last year. Also had 5 lowers shipped to them off gunbroker.com Rick only charged me $25 per lower to DROS the gun broker ones.

I went to Jackson today actually. They didn't seem to be too interested in dealing with it. Its not a PPT that I'm doing though, just trying to have a stripped lower shipped to an FFL. Thanks though

I was at the airport Jackson Arms 2weeks ago to do a PPT, and there were 2 other simple PPTs ahead of me, and it wasn't a busy time either. It took them a loooooong time to do each. It took me over 1 hr and 45 minutes from the time I get there to the time I walked out of the store. I would avoid going there unless you have too much time doing nothing.

Try Toby at http://www.tobystactical.com/ I'm pretty sure he charges $40, and is cool with internet and out of state sellers.

+1 for Peter at Mount Pleasant Arms.
He was able to get firearms for me that I had given up on owning in CA.
And not common stuff like Gen 4 Glocks but arranging for firearms to be shipped to a 3rd party in a free state to be neutered and then shipped into CA.

Like this Rock River LAR-PDS pistol. Ha! Diane Feinstein can't sleep at night because this gun is in CA.

2nd on Metal Dog San Jose. I just did the same with 2 stripped lowers coming from out of state. They were pretty cool about it, just give them a call first.

Yeah Kevin is a great guy, and does a lot of internet related work. I believe his fee is at 50 now, give him a call or email--he responds quick and well with both.

Why not give Templar Sport Los Gatos a try? Did PPT my transfer (I'm the buyer) there last month. Very professional staff.

It's totally out of the way for me, but I'd return for more business there.

Yeah, the Russians are GTG in Pleasant Hill...If you are in the 'yach that would be a good call.

DO NOT go to Canyon. They are THE WORST.

A few years ago, the City Arms Russians were the worst and I hate going there because they had an attitude of I couldn't ask to look at more than one gun unless I am ready to buy, but now they are friendly and great and very efficient PPT. May be they are now drinking a different cool aid for better. And I am glad they are as it is the closest to me. Yeah, they don't like to do Internet purchase transfer even for the model or brand they don't sell.

For low price if you have multiple long guns to transfer or Internet/transfer order, mparms definitely is the best and cheapest/reasonable price I found but it is far in south San Jose area for me. I am sure there are a couple of others good ones as well in Santa Clara. There is one FFL in San Mateo/San Bruno area (I can't remember the name) that charges his transfer fee a fix rate plus a % of my firearm value so if I am transferring a $2000 gun, the transfer fees go up to like $150 for the same amount of paperwork. Just unbelievable.
