Default Sign the Letter - Support AB1663 (repeal of AB962)

The NRA Members' Councils of California has put together a petition supporting AB1663. Please be sure to sign this online version if you have not signed a hard-copy version yet. I know that this is a dupe of info in other threads, but this call to action deserves its own thread.

------------

Quote:
NEW LEGISLATION INTRODUCED TO REPEAL AB962!

Immediately following Governor Schwarzenegger's signing of the Ammunition Sales Registration Bill, AB962, NRA announced our effort to repeal this misguided and un-necessary legislation by amending NRA sponsored AB373 into a "Repeal bill."

This effort has been welcomed by overwhelming support throughout the firearms community within the state and the California Rifle and Pistol Association immediately added their total support to this effort. Gun stores, ranges, hunting & shooting clubs, collectors, hunters, and those who value our freedoms, have all joined this effort to repeal AB962.

Because of this overwhelming support from firearms owners throughout the state, it has been decided to use a different legislative vehicle in the effort to Repeal AB962. The reason is because the time for AB373 to be heard in the legislative committee was nearing the end and many people still had not had a chance to sign the "Letter of Support of the Repeal of AB962" yet. Assemblyman Hagman has introduced AB1663, which does not require a hearing until later this year. This gives everyone a chance to sign the "Letter."

This will not be an easy fight, but it is possible to win if we all stick together and act in an organized manner. There is no good reason not to be part of the team.

Read the NRA-ILA News Release regarding Governor Schwarzenegger's counter-productive signing of AB962 at http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/News....aspx?ID=12998 .

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED:

Please contact Assemblyman Curt Hagman and thank him for demonstrating his leadership by sponsoring legislation (AB1663) for this very important effort to repeal AB962. His office phone number is 916-319-2060 and you can email him at Assemblymember.Hagman@assembly.ca.gov .

HELP REPEAL AB962 by signing the on-line letter in support of AB1663 at http://www.calnra.com/petition/

HELP REPEAL AB962 by printing copies of letter in support of AB1663 at http://www.calnra.com/doc/supportab1663.pdf and distributing to your firearms owning friends.

NOTE: Originally, NRA and Assemblyman Hagman planned to amend AB 373 as the vehicle for this legislation. However, due to details of the legislative process, the decision was made to introduce AB 1663, a new bill. Please continue to send all old "Letters of Support" to "NRA - AB1663 Letters, 3565 La Ciotat Way, Riverside, CA 92501". All of these "Letters of Support" submitted under the old bill number will still be valid after this technical change.

As many as possible.

This is not a "number of signatures to get on the ballot" petition... this is a petition to send to each member of the legislature to show support for the measure.
AB1663 WILL go into committee even with no signatures.

They won't. Because each one is on a INDIVIDUAL sheet of paper. Each "electronic" letter will be printed in the same way as if it were hand written.

Signed but the low numbers means we need to get more involved. How do we get the banner off the site. It says feel free to user the banner but it does not tell you how. Do you just save it as a fig and hyperlink it.

Maybe a mod or someone could add this banner to our websites banner add, I think the best location would be centered above where it says CALGUNS.NET,
so that it stands out as not just the regular banner ads, draws eyes to it, and hopefully gets all of our members signatures, that would surely help.
