Just wondering if I don't have a job and just living off my savings.

Is that going to be a problem applying for CCW in SB?

Assuming my good cause is self-defense.

- if you are living off your savings you are 'self employed'
- or 'financially independent'
- it should not matter
- business owners - such as myself - are always living off of savings lol!

- just make sure you are of good moral character

That’s the definition of a “retiree”.

They're getting really fast. I was scared how long my new permit would take since I made modifications. Had the range session sat, class tue, new card in the mail today. Still a month out from expiration.

Just start jumping through the hoops, it's not a big deal, you just have to make up your mind to do it.

Notpc gave you the link, you'll have more questions I am sure but go do everything you can and then come back and ask the rest, we'll be glad to help where we can.

And thank the good Lord for our sheriff, he and his crew are the good guys.

My wife had her interview about 2.5 months ago. Not sure what the delay is but I suspect her employer did not submit the paperwork. When is it appropriate to follow up and is it best to call or email?

Dspracing,

- dont call
- just wait
- answer your phone when they call... otherwise you'll be waiting another 2 weeks for a call back

Does anyone have up to date info on carrying standard capacity mags? Is anything mentioned during interview or renewal?

Thank you.

From their FAQ

Can I carry standard capacity magazines over 10 rounds with my CCW firearm?

No, at this time you are only allowed to carry a maximum of a 10-round magazine until further notice

Starlight,

Thanks for the tip. I always screen my calls. Will it come from a 909 number or will it be a number that is blocked?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I know this may have been covered somewhere in the 166 pages of this thread, but, is a DUI from 17 years ago going to exclude one from getting a CCW in SB county?

- prolly not
- especially if it was one time only
- anything that makes your character to be violent (assault, battery, domestic, etc) will be a problem

- put it on your application
- explain it at your interview
- explain how you've been a good boy ever since, etc...

I think 10 years is the magic number.

Thanks for the input. I decided to pick up an XD9 3” today and I’m going to give it a try. Worst case scenario it just spends its days in the safe with the rest of my guns, lol.

Other than that brush with the law 17 years ago I’ve got nothing but traffic violations here and there. Hopefully they deem my moral character to be good.

You'll be fine, SB County is geared towards approving you, not denying you. 100% Honesty and concrete proof you live in Berdoo county and you'll be good to go.

Mail them in December usually, I thought.
The 2020 letter is on their website already.

If you give the license plate number to a Ford Pinto as your address, it might be an issue. Otherwise, apply. The Sheriff here is very fair.

Yup. Just because you own a house in San Bernardino county doesn't mean you're a resident of the county.

These other things go to prove you're a resident.

Why don't you have utilities or car registration?

The reason is because 1 got into an accident totalled 1 1/2 yrs ago. Gave up the car to the pound. Then as for utility bills n stuff under my fiance. Better credit. Less money to pay.

- if you don't have [typical] proof of residency you typically fill out an affidavit
- in an affidavit you basically swear under oath that you are a SBC resident
- if you are found to be lying then you can be held criminally accountable
- you will need to get the affidavit notarized..

Good morning all. I have a buddy who lives in SB County and is considering applying for his permit. What is the approximate turnaround time from the time you submit your application until card in hand?

Thank you in advance for any responses.
