Default What scope do you have on your 17hmr

I have a 3-9x32 Nikon rimfire on my ruger 17hmr.

It’s a great scope, but recently I have been noticing that 9 power is just a little too small when I’m trying to reach out past 125 yards on particularly small targets.

What scope are you running? Looking to increase my magnification without dealing with parallax issues.

Not quite apples and oranges comparison, but...

Our cz455 has both a .22mag and a .17 hmr barrel. Right now I'm searching for the right scope for both barrels. I had a Sightron s1h-tac 4-12ao on it that really worked, except for the target knobs. Haven't pulled the trigger on it yet, but I think I'll end up with the 4-12 s1h-moa https://sightronusa.com/product/sih412x40ftmoa/.

I think 12-14x is a good max power compromise. It pulls in small things at 200yds without going overboard on weight. I'm also finding that I want an AO on the scope. Fixed parallax is great on rifles meant for larger targets, but it sure is nice to be able to focus in and eliminate it on that small spot, regardless of range.

I have been running a bouch and Lomb 2.5x10 for the last 15 years. It is now the Bushnell 4200 but optics are clear and I see plenty well at 10 power.

I have an old Tasco World Class Plus 4-16x50 on my Savage. Also a 6-24x50 and a 8-32x50 on a couple of .22-250s. About 30 years old, still work well.

I’m running a 3-9 and I want a 4-16 at least. It’s tough shooting squirrels at 175 yards with 9x. The gun and round is out shooting my current scope.

Dvor.com has the BSA sweet 17 on sale for $50. The turrets are already calculated for bullet drop. Have the BSA sweet 22 on a 10/22 and it's an excellent scope for the price

Had a 3x9 Leupold on my CZ455. Also felt it was not enough. Big Leupold fan but ventured out of my comfort zone. Bought a Vortex Crossfire II 6x18. Very pleased with it.

I'm running a Athlon Midas Tac 6-24X50 on my CZ 455. It's a Chinese made scope, but I haven't had any issues so far and it actually tracks. It has an adjustable parallax from 10yrds to infinity and weighs about 26oz. Street price is about $600.

I mount the older Simmons 3-9x32 WA A/O .22 MAG Matte on my Marlin xt17R. It's dead on where I point the crosshair at but I only sight it at 50yrds. This 50yrds applies to all my rimfire. Since I do squirrel hunting that is what it needs to be and anything from 50yrds and down is a dead meat. It's a great combo with the Simmons scope. But I used the standard Summons 3-9x32 mag on all my 22's. Can't go wrong if something doesn't break the bank and it works just as great a high end scope.

I’ll have to look at that set up. I’m running the leupold 3-9 because it came with the gun but I really like the lower end vortex stuff for cheap guns. The amazing warranty makes it a no brainer.

I have a Tasco Target/Varmint 6-24 on my CZ 452 Varmint. I like the higher end magnification for ground squirrels and prairie
dogs, the primary use of this gun. The scope works very well on rifles with little recoil. I have used it on .223s as well. It has an adjustable parallax. It has the mil dot reticle. I have higher end scopes on my other rifles but this one has worked well for a few years now on this gun. I get about 1/2 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards with the CCI Green ammo. I don't know why the picture is oriented sideways. Top is to the left. This was shot on Tuesday at the Apple Valley Gun Club.

Weaver grand slam 4-16x44. I like it, but my options were limited to the location of the rear sight on my 452.

I have a Browning T-bolt .17hmr and use a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16X on it. I find for ground squirrels out to 150-175 yards it makes it easy to make head shots on the little pests.

By the way, I have the rig for sale.

Some of my 3x9 scopes don't do great past 100 yards because the reticle lines are too thick. My Leupolds do very well with the very fine crosshairs.

I like Mueller scopes as well. The 6-18 is exceptionally clear.

What distance was the target you posted?
