Default .22 Winchester 1000 rd box at Walmart

Saw this Winchester .22 ammo at Wally World today. $50 and change for a 1000 rd box. It's 1288 fps. 40 gr solid rn bullets. Some kind of black coating on the bullets. Comes in a black box. Has any one used it? How's the accuracy compared to say, the Federal Premium Gold label or CCI std velocity? WW has about 12-15 of these bricks on hand but wanted to get the low down on the ammo before spending the beans. They'll be used in a Ruger Single Six and my US Springfield M1922M1 mostly.
Thanks in advance, gents.
Jon
Btw this particular WW also has about a half dozen 525 boxes of Remington. Don't remember the price exactly but it was around $25, give or take.

Thank you Litespeeds. That is indeed, the ammo in question. Interesting reviews for sure. I'm still on the fence about it.
Thanks again for your helpful reply.

I would take those reviews with a grain of salt. This is not target ammo.

m-22 stuff isnt bad at all! i used to shoot it all the time at my local USPA steel challenges. never had an issue out of my 10/22 at roughly 150 rounds a match. def a heck of alot better than the golden bullets!

Default .22 Winchester 1000 rd box at Walmart

awhile ago i shot alot of m22 during the great ammo drought through a ruger single six, ruger sr22 and heritage roughrider. it worked fine but was more smokey and dirty than most other brands. i was happy to both have it and use it up. now that ammo is more plentiful i prefer other brands that i often find online (n.b. im not a cali resident) but $50/1000=$2.50/50 isnt a bad price to lay in a stash before ammo prices spike in california.

If memory serves, that ammo was designed for use in semi-auto rifles.
That may be why it's a bit dirty than other ammo in pistol applications.

I used that in my 10/22 and 15-22 with no problems.
It should be fine for your pistols.

In my mind, bulk 22 ammo is all about the same. Some work better in your particular weapon, some don't. You just have to try each one and find the one that works best in your particular pistol.

BTW, most ammo/gun combo shoot better than most people can shoot.

I’ve shot a bunch of it thru 10/22s and Crickett rifles without any issues. My Ruger MKIII loves it too.

I checked the ammo bin at the Wally World in Lodi today and they had some cases. $54.81 OTD for 1000 rounds is a good deal these days so I snagged a case. We will see how my Ruger Single Six and Browning Buckmark like them...

That is my favorite bulk 22lr ammo. Runs great in everything, and pretty clean compared to golden turds. .055/rd out the door is a great price.

My experience with that ammo is from a three years back. It is bad for Semi auto pistol or rifle and good for revolver, bolt action. We pulled it off the line for all our training classes.
Not sure about the current lots.

I didn’t see that box at my Walmart, but they did have the 525 round boxes of the Remington Golden Bullet. I picked up a box for about $30 after taxes. Good price, and I’m happy to see 22lr back in stock at Walmart, especially considering I can’t buy it online anymore!!!

I bought a case and a half or so over a period of time during the shortage from Walmart. It was sometime after the recall (from the double charged fiasco), and my experience was similar. A lot of almost squib rounds that wouldn't cycle, and some that would. Like they were overcompensating and using weak powder charges. I traded it all away since some people really liked the stuff, and never bought any more.

The only good thing about it was than when Walmart had the 3 box limit, 1000 rounds was considered a box, so I could score as much as 3K rounds at once, but most of the time I might get the last 1 or 2 of the 1K "bricks", but at least made it feel worth standing in a line, and for about $48 out the door, the price wasn't bad.

As a general rule with bulk, I try to stay away from Winchester and Aguila .22 ammo. I absolutely refuse to buy Remington .22 ammo.

I've had the best luck with CCI and Federal.
