I am interested in one if we can have some assurance that the kits will ship complete and in a timely manner.

Remember, this is Blackthorne/Hesse/Vulcan you're dealing with...

So how much extra work are we talking about with these "virgin" kits? Barrel has to be populated ($90 or so?), blind pin+ weld an extention($50? Or more?) & the UF folding holes have to be drilled? What else?

Trigger guard rivet located, drilled, and installed
Selector stop plate milled for magazine tab
(possible) installation of bullet guide in front trunnion
Holes located, and drilled for front trunnion rivets
(possible) barrel profile needing to be turned to fit parts (in addition to head spacing, population, and gas port drilled).
Barrel pin hole drilled through trunnion/barrel (during head spacing, and population)
Probably other fitting of parts but that's off the top of my head.
I bought one of the kits that Blackthorne had on GB about 6 months ago (missing rear top cover hinge block) but sold it, and bought a 2003 matching numbers kit to build for my own collection.
Without a mill, and lathe I didn't want to attempt that virgin build in my shop.
Good news is the Calgunner i sold that kit to has it just about completed, and it's looking very nice.
Blackthorne was also good about shipping in a timely manner, and kit was as described on GB.

Have fun with them guys. The M92 is one of my favorites to shoot.
Some inspiration for the builders (my M92)>>>

So if you want a great deal time to move.

If your on the fence look at this http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=264020447
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=264598540
The supposed assembled M85 is not an M85. Look at the front trunnion. It's slabside making it a M92 than M85. The parts kit is correct for a M85.

I am doing all of mine on a card so I get points and money back. It more than makes up for the discounts given. I hope you guys get enough to make the group buy.

FYI if you have good credit you should seriously look at the offer from Chase Freedom card right now. If you make a $500 purchase you get $300 back. Making a single kit $399. Too good to ignore.

So is an M85 a 1.5mm bulged trunnion kit that would build on an M70AB2 receiver?

I looked closely and the front trunnion looks bulged in the parts picture.

Is it 7.62*39?

Woodey put me down for one...

Also if anyone wants to farm out the tough parts of a virgin build, see Pat @ http://home.comcast.net/~restoreit1/

He did a great job for me at a very fair price.

Just don't send him a receiver...

Yes, the M85 and M95 use the 1.5mm bulged trunnion. You can build it on the AB2 receiver but the center support needs to be modified. Or you can get the "correct" receiver from NODAK. I think they have a few left (NDS-Y556?). I will rather build a fixed stock M95A than as an underfolder originally intended.

M85 and M95 are both NATO 5.56/.223. Both have chrome lined barrels. M95 have adjustable gas block and does not come with a cleaning rod as the lower handguard doesn't have the hole for it.

Tough decision.

Does the M85 kit have a Zastava barrel or is it US made?

Do M85 magazines have the Yugo bolt hold open feature?

The M85 is a short barreled AK type in 5.56mm caliber. This kit features a BRAND NEW US made (wilson blank) barrel with a 5.56mm chamber, 1-9" twist, 6 grooves, right hand twist, 4150 high vanadium, chrome moly steel

I would have to put mine on a CC as well. I make any purchases like this with one for protection should something go wrong.

Default Hi

Well I'm on the list, but it so looks like we are loosing numbers. I'd rather loose 50 bucks, and make sure I can still get a kit. My intention was to help the group, but loosing so many seems like there's no real point. I personally feel more comfortable using a CC as well.

I sent a few Pm's. I understand people are busy. No big deal. Wanted to share my intentions with everyone.

We need more people is the bottom line. I personally don't want to wait around and loose the kit. My two cents

Thanks

Looks like Blackthorne inventory count is down to less than 50. At least that's what the website says. Maybe some manufacturer bought a bunch.
