Default Wild Bill's Old West and FN Five Seven

Figure I'd shoot this question now before procuring my newly purchased five seven tomorrow.

So when I paid for it at Wild Bills in Elk Grove, I noted the salesman mentioning that it comes with two magazines. Double checking after the purchase, I see a lot of guns in CA classifieds show three magazines, as FNH USA intended to ship them to an FFL. There was one guy in Sac who bought and then sold his FN five seven for the same price I paid, along with ONLY TWO MAGs. Both are MKIIs.

I called FNH USA in Virginia to speak with two reps and have been awaiting a note to bring to the FFL in case I get any slack about it. They both confirmed on the phone that three magazines ship with the firearm.

So am I missing something here? Unless there's an issue with Sac County taking away one magazine, I find that to be highly unlikely. I don't want to point fingers yet, so a step in the right direction would be helpful before I start losing my mind about it.

Thoughts?

If the sales guy says it comes with two then it does. That's what you agreed to. If he's keeping the third and selling it to someone else you should check that our before you plop down your cash.

If he said two, he said two. That's all he sold you.

You might get lucky but he is under no obligation to provide a third in my opinion.

He might have opened the case and saw 2 mags. The Third is usually already in the gun. A gun store sales person should know that already though.

It's very much possible. I already paid the full amount. Just find it rather odd they could do that. It is a brand new gun, not something on consignment.

FN rep said they might send me the missing magazine if worst comes to worst. However they're correspondence hasn't been really quick as far as my request for them to provide me a note saying it ships out as 3 magazines. I understand they prioritize military contracts first. I hope they are of some help.

Either way I would just feel pretty *****ty if I get shafted over a 10 round mag that's only $40.

Most Five Seven come with three mags but you were sold a gun with two mags. I understand how you feel, it happened to me over a decade ago. Just because the gun is sent with three mags doesn't mean that is how the store sells them. They sold you a gun with two mags, I would just accept it and move on. Some dealers keep the third mag and sell it to make some extra profit. If it really bothers you that much you can always just make and comment in passing that you thought the gun comes with three mags and see what they say.

You bought a gun with two mags. Doesn't matter what the dealer bought it with, only matters what you bought it with.

I recently bought a brand new Fn 5.7 FDE from a dealer with only two mags. I didn't care because I paid $1350 out the door - tax and DROS included.

Now maybe it was sold to him that way or maybe he sold one mag off to give me a good deal on the gun. The only thing that matters is I was told what I was buying up front, and I agreed to it and was satisfied.

Well considering I paid $1600+ out the door, tax AND DROS fee included, you would imagine that $40 3rd mag comes with it. I don't know, just seems ethical in my opinion.

I'll still take the firearm tomorrow, that's certain. I'll mention it in passing, and move forward if things don't seem to resolve there. I'll deal with it from FN at that point.

Possible it was a hicap version that they replaced the mags with 10 rdrs? Could be a reason you get 2.

We'll see what happens in the morning. I hope it was they just miscounted how many magazines were actually in the box, versus farming it for profit.

I admit I should have paid more attention to what the clerk was saying, because I was pretty tired when I went in to check it out. But I guess we'll just have to see. Just a little apprehensive since this FFL tends to be hit or miss with folks here.

Some years back, springfield had a special going for the mil-spec (GI model?). Was supposed to come with a bunch of extra stuff. It wasn't included at the dealer. I contacted Springfield and asked for the extra stuff. They said it should have been included, but since it wasn't, they sent it too me.

I really don't know about FN, but I figured that the gun I bought (new) had been sitting in dealer backstock until I bought it and the stuff hadn't been included because it got to the dealer before the special started.

May or may not be the case here too.

Most manufacturers will make it right. Just gotta be persistant.

I'm going to be optimistic and see what unfolds when I get there.

Figuratively, let's suppose one were to walk into a dealership to buy a new Nissan GT-R. It's everything you want, so you pay and wait for the pre delivery inspection to be completed, only to find out they took one of the turbos out. Yeah, my expectations would be pretty high if I spent that much money. Granted this is a $1600 piece of deadly plastic, I assume all of the other plastic would come with it. Just sayin, lol.

OP, I recommend not patronizing Wild Bill's, if only that these kind of shenanigans are indicative of their general behavior to their customers.

Wild Bills is the closest gun store to my house, and I stopped going there a couple of years ago (and I buy a lot of guns). Customer service is bad and their prices are laughably high.
There are a whole lot of better gun stores in this area.

It appears that place is hit and miss. You would think you would get all of the things it came with originally.

Too much BS with that place.

No money from my pocket, and I herby bestow the status of PNG, henceforth.

I hate to bad mouth a local FFL, but I agree with everything that you have said. WB's has a great selection of firearms but holy Jesus are the prices high. I'm talking about 20-30% higher than other FFL's in the area. In addition, I've had a few issues with some of the staff there. Had one of the employees tell me that the pistol I was DROSing via PPT was a felony and he knows because he is LE. Left the store, went down the street and had the pistol transferred no problem.

Well I just picked it up. Sales guy was a little shocked when I showed him the FN sales brochure with the corresponding UPC.

He goes in the back to look at an FDE 5.7 and lo and behold -- 3 magazines.

So he decided to let me walk out with the third magazine. He seemed professional and said he was going to handle business on his end. It was a stand up move on his end.

I can only imagine how things would have been had I had to wait for FN to respond, seeing their customer service tends to be quite slow at times.

Would I go back? Honestly, until I experience horrible service, I probably would go back. But considering I live in Solano, I'd only go in for items I couldn't find locally (like the FiveSeven for example).

A little ironic how much better the inventory is in the state Capitol considering the current opinion on firearms.

Anyhow, thanks for the input, ladies and gents!

So wouldn't he have let you walk out with three mags that were in your box anyway? Or was the box missing one mag? My LGS gives me whatever the brand new gun is supposed to come with.

Glad to hear you ended up with your third mag. A few years ago I bought a Kimber Eclipse Custom II. It was was supposed to come with two magazines but the dealer said Kimber only includes one with the guns they send to California because they can't fit a second mag and a gun lock in the case. Was thinking that may have been the issue with you.

When he first opened my case, my heart sank a bit when I saw two magazines. I waited to see if he would have noticed it but he was certain it came with two magazines when I met him 10 days ago.

At first he was pretty adamant about the two mag thing until I showed him the official FN sales brochure. When I pointed out my UPC code and showed him the content list, he seemed puzzled. When he came back out with the third magazine, then he looked really confused.

Before walking into the store and acting a fool I made sure to double check the official FN USA site and even called customer service. I already knew what needed to come with my purchase.

Wish I had called armory outpost to save myself $200. It is what it is.

Just test fired her earlier tonight before work. Really fun gun to shoot. The sights are extremely tall like they were meant for a can.

.....
THat's puzzling .... If the 3rd magazine was not in the gun case, where did he find it?
Why is it outside the case?
If it was sold to you with 2 magazines, why did he give you the 3rd magazine?

When I bought my Sig MK25, all 3 magazines were in the gun case.

Yup, just enjoy it. Call Ron over there next time though. That's my LGS I mentioned. No funny business at Armory Outpost.
