Anyone here living in Northern Idaho, CDA, Hayden, or Sandpoint area.

Or previously lived there. Thinking of moving. I m a Typical retired LEO who is tired of Cali radical and liberal path to destruction

Great people.

Cold wet winters.

That's what I have heard. But I have been told that it's not near as bad as the midwest or eastern US

Lots of retired LEOs in the Sandpoint area. I have a friend who lived at Cocolalo, which is across the lake from Sandpoint, and she loved it. Though with the death of her last husband she has moved south to just outside of Boise.

We looked at cour'd laine last year but the local consensus was there was too much lead in the lake, groundwater from the mining to the east. Sandpoint does not see to have the same issues

Living on a farm in the CDA area. Great place to live. Four distinct seasons - quite a relief after living in the blast furnace that is Dallas.

I love CDA, absolutely beautiful place. Unfortunately a lot of people moving to the area. I was talking to a friend at the S.O there and she told me that they are typically 20 years behind Ca in the politics. With that said there are several place outside CDA that I liked, Blanchard, Athol, St. Maries, Worley and Plummer area. Athol and Blanchard are within 30 minutes of CDA and the other places are a little farther out. One of my close friends lives in CDA, he’s been trying to get me there for 7 years. Probably going to happen, sooner. Lots of retired cops from SoCal in that area.

My son lived in CDL for 2 seasons. Had a good job with great pay, but the winter did him in and he moved back to Kali. I have long time friends in Blanchard and Rathdrum. They're well off enough to leave the cold behind when they desire. I like it up there, but the cold is tough for Kali folk. PAX

I just returned from a trip to CDA, Sandpoint, Hayden, Post Falls, and Bonners Ferry. Every third person I met was from California! Housing price is
increasing - winters are nasty. A lot of the folks I talked with leave Idaho and migrate to AZ in the winter.

I'd love to live there - but I spent 3 years in Alaska and 10 years in Michigan. Not a fan of snow. Still looking.

I got to Northern Idaho every year, it's where my father is from and he just passed away two years ago. I love the Ponderay/Sandpoint areas but my heart is in Priest River. Yes, the winters can be down right brutal if you are not prepared. But being in the mountains in Priest River, I wouldnt change that for anything. Yes I live here in Kalifornia but my home is there. Yes, a lot of retired Leo's there and it's so damm beautiful there. CDA is just too damm crowded now. I stay away from CDA as much as I can. I usually wont go father then Hayden unless I need to. If I go north, Ponderay and Sandpoint sit me fine, Bonners Ferry is beautiful too...hope that helps.

gunner336,

My wife and I will be putting our Chico CA home on the market next week. We are moving to Hayden, ID. The winters cannot be as bad as the anti 2A libtards ruining CA. We purchased our lot from a retired CHP officer, who will be one of our neighbors. If you move to the area, let me know.

Absolutely no facts back this statement up, and in fact, it's quite the opposite.
Conservative Californian's are making Idaho more conservative.

I chose southern Idaho because I wanted less snow and rain.
It reminds me of San Diego's east county where I grew up.

come check out Star Idaho. I know two other law enforcement retired from California who live there. Two of which were in the murder Mountain from Humboldt County on Netflix. If you're around this neck of the woods hit me up off grab a beer with you or something.

Star's in a nice area! My brother will be moving to the Boise area from San Diego later this year.

I'm breaking ground on my house outside of Twin Falls near the Snake River in Sept.

gunner336....
You will like Hayden, it's a nice area. It's more in the city but you'll have everything close by...Walmart, Costco, some fast food places, car dealerships, and ask the CHP guy about North 40 and Black Sheeps...you go to those two places, it'll be like you're in a candy store.
Spokane is not too far away as well but seriously, you made a good move there and Hayden really is nice..

Im in Bonners Ferry just north of Sandpoint.

Stay out of CDA. That place is a madhouse. Sandpoint is pretty liberal but its still nice and hard to find a decent place for cheap. Deals to be had in Sagle, spirit lake, hayden and across in Clark fork or Hope.

Come up north and live free in Boundary County.
I love it up here.
Shooting range on my property, Class III, SBR, hunting fishing and honest people. Unlike Ca.

And dont listen to any of these threads about the weather unless someone actually lives here.
My winter in Northern Cali was FAR more brutal that living 25 miles from the Canadian border.

Message me if you up looking around. You can't beat this place for freedom.

If you mind your own business and dont brag about Cali no one cares.
People dont move to Northern Idaho to fit in, this isn't like San Diego or something. People come here to be left the hell alone.
A lot of Cali people here.
Swear your allegiance to America, and being a free person keeping your opinions to yourself and you will find you will be accepted here just fine.

Theres a joke about how to tell who moved here from Ca.
They will give you their opinion about everything.

Priest River is about 35-40 minutes away from Sandpoint and Ponderay and yes, Sandpoint got pretty liberal...but it's still quite nice. Up in Priest River, nothing but mountains all around and Newport isn't too far away either. Be there hopefully in late August...
