Advantage of walk-in is that you show up, fill out DROS. No FFL because you pick up there. Only catch is that your lower is unique to DROS so your 10 days start when your lower is assigned to you. If ifs not created, you wait longer.

As for my order... im feeling good about next week (+10 days)

Thanks, maybe with how long it takes I could make a trip down, order it and then plan another trip the 2-3 months later when it's ready

For what it's worth, I got a 4 week turn around on a JD lower (gotta love the made in SD mark) post crazy at Team Big Shot. They said they are getting in 25 lowers per week on contract with JD. It was a faster turn than even going down to JD was. Rather than sit on an 8-10 week turn direct you can try to get in with them. Super awesome guys at that shop, too.

Had a call from JD on Thursday because my FFL as out of town and hadn't returned their voicemail. He said they were 8-10 weeks out for my order from 1/16.

Does JD notify you when they ship to your FFL? My FFL is bad at letting me know they received stuff.

Ordered mine on 12-19-12, received it on 2-19-13. E-mailed on 2 occassions and called 3 times got no response on anything. I have 2 .223 and 2 308 lowers from them, all but the last one were bought pre panic. I fully realize they are probably slammed but a little better customer service letting folks know some idea of the status would sure be nice. Maybe an update on their web site with where orders are.

Well that's interesting; I internet ordered mine on 1/3 and have not heard a word (other than the confirmation email).

Mine's a Calguns with paint fill.

I went in on Tuesday looking for an upper as I was told they would receive Monday...got there and was talking to the main dude who was a little irritated and mentioned they were there, but had nasty blotches and were unsellable, apparently their anodizing shop is slacking, this has put them behind on uppers 3-4 weeks as they have to send the parts out to a new shop. There could be a slight possibility that the same anodizers were used for lowers and uppers. Regardless ill be going in later in the week and can get slightly better idea on the lowers situation.

Mine is just the standard JD machine roll mark.
I will go for a calguns lower next time but I ordered what I thought would be more likely to be available soon.

I spoke with them about 5 minutes ago. They are currently doing DROS on lowers ordered by walk-in on 1/7. I ordered by walk-in on 1/16 so they said my DROS will start in about 10 days.

For a point of reference, I ordered a lower on 1/3 and was able to pickup today on 2/25. I think I heard 16 weeks as the new lead time for new purchases, but I didn't ask directly.

If you ordered it on the 19th it's not on the way. I'm still waiting to dros and I ordered on the 8th (1/8)

Online orders were back ordered 4-5 months last I heard

I went in on Friday and picked up an upper, they had like 3 boxes of them there. They said at least 15 weeks on lowers.

It looks like i am still a couple weeks out on shipping.
From their website-

Quote:
All items are currently backordered. Please allow 15-16 weeks for delivery of new LOWER RECEIVER orders. Most other items are shipping in less than 4 weeks.

We are currently shipping orders for 5.56 & .308 LOWERS and .308 UPPERS placed at the end of December.

That announcement seems to be new as of yesterday. Looks like my order is a week or two away from being in-work (I hope).

I ordered back at the beginning of January, have been trying to cancel for two weeks now. Multiple voice mails left, multiple emails sent, completely ignored. Will take it up with my CC company now I guess.

That is not even a bad wait time considering how backordered everyone else seems to be, plus, they are not gouging. I put my order in on 1/18 and it was $139, as I look now at the website it is $149. They could charge $250 and no one would blink.

If someone is going to go down there in person, it would be great if we could get someone there to update to this thread, seems like there are a fair number of ppl interested.

I think quite a few people would blink if they tried charging $250 a lower. You can get quality lowers for $200 on a regular basis right now.

Which is why people would blink at paying more to get them directly from JD

Went to buy 2 lowers today. Spoke with another calguns member and he stated he waited 2 months. The sale rep said 15-16 weeks. I'm assumming my order should take a little longer since one is paint filled (cal guns). Looks like more people picked up than to buy today. Can't waittt, well I guess I have to!

Maybe one of you can answer this real quick before I call. If I do the In store pickup do they call me in 15 weeks when it's ready. Then I drive down to do DROS and then come back in 10 days again? Trying to decide if its easier to drive or transfer.

Thanks

You fill out dros undated and once your lowers are ready you pick up! I remember when I bought my Aresenal at a lgs, I put a deposit on the rifle, came back for dros and finally picked it up 10 days later. What a hassel but I guess it was worth it. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that here!
