1920 M1903 Springfield National Match, a Camp Perry pre-civilian sales rifle, all original and correct, the bore is mint.





Notice 'asphaltum' finish is almost completely intact on the receiver, in the picture above it's mostly off the bolt sleeve where the safety mounts.


Asphaltum finish wear on rear sight collar on the edges of the cutout


There is no star stamped in the crown, this era NM rifle pre-date that practice




Both are P.J. O'Hare, but I believe the front cover is a 1921 manufacture


The magazine cutoff is color case hardened, it retains ~ 70% of it's original finish

I still have the original stock but I got a sporter to play dress up because I like the way it looks. Only problem is the Op Rod was exposed


So I have been looking for a way to manufacture a cover to protect me and the op rod.

And the answer was kydex. It took a long time, it's not perfect, but it works and it's snug, without touching the op-rod.





So I'm happy with it until I can get/make something better.

Been a little quiet on the collecting front since I destroyed my knee back in November. However I do have a couple of lever rifles I picked up just prior to screwing myself up.

Top; 1873 Winchester made in 1888, chambered in .44WCF (.44-40)
Bottom 1893 Marlin made in 1900, chambered in .38-55

Both are equipped with Rocky Mountain front sights









This is a very recent pick up: Winchester Model 94 chambered in .30-30 and made in 1955.
