Default How-to use an original mag release

A picture is worth a thousand words. No need to go featureless. I have seen a similar mod before here, but thought i would share since I finally got the chance to snap a photo of it.

The better the pin fit; the less needs to be done to hold it in place. The edge of your hole should be lined up with the end of the bolt catch slot. If you are worried, grab calipers and measure it out on your receiver.

The pin can be as tall as the bolt catch sits while it is in its resting state. The one in the photo is much shorter.



Painfully simple to convert back to 49 state mode.

If you used a stepped pin and put a spring on it and a hollow setscrew to capture it so it's automatic when you open the reciever a little bit, you would have one of these:
